I thought we were really good, Benji for his good play tonight overplayed his hand. Not gonna say it cost us the game, some of his plays were great, but sometimes a bloke has to take a back seat. When Brooks came back on after the bin he was in a right mood, Benji was just in the way. Very impressed by Brooks, he has finally grown some balls. I’m pretty happy with that performance. Should have won in the end we were all
Over them in the end, Some
Of Benjis choices late were not plays that a Langer, Thurston or Cronk would’ve made.
I don’t agree. Benji was trying to win that game. Brooks was not setting anything up.

Kepaoa, needs to concentrate.

That's right... you watch him he vagues out badly ....when Gagai took the fingertip intercept that led to Twal's binning he assumed Gagai would just runaway and score so stayed dawdling on Souths 30 M and let everyone else do the chasing...if Twal wasnt binned and the play went on we would have had no winger down there in our defensive line...he needs another season downstsirs.
On a hopeful note....in post game interview Grant was asked (again) where he'd be playing next year and he said he wasn't sure at the moment but at this stage back to Melbourne...i'll take that as an encouraging maybe.
Also....welcome GOALKICKER!!

I know people are down in the mouth about Benji’s grubber and rightfully so. It was low percentage and poorly executed. I don’t agree that his passing was poor though...he was creating space everywhere and was the best chance of getting the side home.

As per his career, he was trying to win, involved heavily in attack, rolling the dice with high risk but just didn’t ice that last play.
Who is going to take that role over next year?
brooks kick on the 2nd tackle is what killed us
terrible brain fart.

Yep trying to hard to win, I’m not bagging Benji on this occasion, he was doing his best for the team, but you’ve got to pick your moments, it’s something that Benjis has done throughout his career, he’s a
100% team man but he lacks that little bit of trust in his team mates and as a result he finds himself trying to make something out of nothing too
Often sometimes it’s great but more often than not it’s not the right play. Sounds critical I know but he did have a good game tonight

Why can’t we dig in like we have the past two weeks when it matters?
I’m blaming the coach.
As soon as we go away from structure we are dangerous.
If we had some speed on the flanks we win this game.
This was always gonna happen under Maguire. His focus as it should be has been on defence. The tight no mistakes footy was always gonna be a foundation until we got the defence in
Order. It hasn’t quite panned out for Madge this year. I’d reckon the first half a dozen games next year will be very dour with little adventure and then we’ll start throwing it around. This years been a shit year, have a look at the top four it’s the teams with good well established systems up front then everybody else. Wasn’t a great year this year for developmental sides. Gold Coast, Knights and Tigers will make the 8 next year, 2022-3 our tigers might look like a threat.

We were a long way behind and the season on the line, someone had to try something. If Nofo was on left wing, we would have won the game easily in the end.

I’m a fan of Grant but I don’t think we give up much with a FIT Liddle

Liddle is really good but Grant is a star. He just goes all game and wants to win. I think at times Liddle's service is better as is Liddle's ability to run from dummy half. Grant though is a special player. He is awesome. His all round game is top class.

Benji looks like he's trying to demonstrate how the club is wrong to be letting him go. Instead he is showing that the club made the right call.
To Benjis credit last night he was injured and they went hard at him he got through 28 tackles , Brooks on the other edge did 8. I think Benjis career at the Tigers is done, not because he’s no good but more cause I think it’s better for the development of the team. I’d have a different opinion if we were competitive week in week out.

Another good point Pezz, “better for the development of the team”.
Someone said he’s always been rocks and diamonds and this is so very true as well.

I was just looking through the team lists for this round and besides the Bulldogs and Titans I couldn’t see Benji being 1st choice 6 or 7 for any team, even then Barrett will have the Dogs 6 n 7 playing far far better next year.

I hope the guy retires gracefully.

He has already missed the opportunity. What a player when he is on. He is as good at creating something as any half in the comp. You look at his try assists for the year and they are really high in the comp and he has been out for a couple of games.

The problem is that poor plays and terrible defense at times aren't what we need.

When your down by 20 are the games Benji loves, because he can pull all the old rabbits out of the hat and if they come off he is a genius and if they blow up so be it.

The trouble is, Benji has the same mind set what ever the situation. Anyway I have plenty of wonderful memories of Benji and will be sad to see him go, but the time is right and I hope he calls it day
