Fainu is the only decent forward we have. The rest can fk off.
So embarrassing that an 18 yr old kid on his debut having never played Flegg or nsw cup has shown up the rest of the team.Concern is it won’t b long b4 the vermin Isaac Moses is agitating to move him to a strong club.

8 sets of six to 1 to start. Ouch.

Klemmer tries hard, hes just old with no leg speed.

Galvin, well done. Hudson Young dog shotted him numerous times but he kept at it.

We need to lay down for penalties, fake grab necks etc, those are the rules the NRL have created.

Agree with Galvin, my only concern is the poor kid is going to burn out by mid season, particularly if he keeps up that level of involvement. That is why I wanted him to debut around mid season to finish the season strong. If he fades in the second half of the season it will just confuse things for next year which appears to be what we are playing for already

I really rate Bula, but what is becoming clear is that he is not a high volume fullback like say Edward’s or Teddy. He is more in the Mitchell vein without the laziness. That is all fine style wise but it does mean his influence can be limited when we are in the back foot. To add to that we have the weakest wingers and centers in the comp, no of them are capable of regularly churning out 150 meters

Understand the concern, but nothing we can do much about it, he has played himself into FG, I don’t see him being left out now, we can only hope he stays fit and healthy.

TBH, I’m much more concerned about our forwards, they offer not much to nothing as a pack, only the occasional individual spurt.

It’s only first game though, maybe things will develop, I think we are all still raw from the last few years of rubbish.

Think we need to reshape our prop rotation. There just isn’t a lot there. Bateman and Ice are players who will thrive if the props can roll forward.

Bud was dreadful and I feel like Sezer is more equiped to coach Galvin through a game - who I thought looked pretty good. Need some more strike out wide which Olam will hopefully help with. Toa runs hot and cold.

Yeah, I think we are a mongrel prop short.
I said earlier Richo made a mistake to not continue talks with AFB.

Agreed. Seyfarth played himself right out of the starting team along with Sullivan. He is too easily dominated to start. I want Pole in the prop rotation but I think he needs to start at 13

AFB would command huge coin, I can see why he wants to look elsewhere. To me Stef is counting down the weeks in his contract and Klem is running on fumes. Fainu played well and Twal is serviceable. Pole looks a decent prospect still and SayFart is a backup player.

We look every bit as bad as previous years. Galvin and Bula (again) the shining lights.

Anyone else catch Bula pulling Bateman into line when we were on the attack, when he was getting more concerned with niggle rather than focusing on getting into position? Our rookies show more composure and resilience than the veterans.

I think we got rightfully punished for a few lapses and I’m not into blaming refs, but that was a woeful performance.

Two forward passes led to raiders tries, obstructions in neon lights, and stefano was unfairly marched.

We didn’t deserve to win it, but that was pretty derelict from the officials.

Benji noted a couple of our plays weren’t on the menu and the lads steered off course.

When coaches say this, they are basically throwing the players under the bus, because the inference is that had they followed the coach, they would have won.

That’s an observation only.

The other excuse and perhaps one that no one is giving enough thought to is the number of newbies out there for us.

I’m not pleased about the game, sure, but I can’t bring myself to label it as catastrophic.

Next 3 or 4 will tell us more about the season.

We have our baseline, it’s too low. It’s up to Benji to raise it.

The raiders at home, fit and operational, early round, they are fierce and hard to beat.

There’s a lot of talk about writing off the season already. We only need to win 5 lousy games, I haven’t seen enough to suggest we won’t.
One word SPOON, Galvin, Samuela Fainu, Sullivan, and Bula really should be used sparingly this season, just enough to become accustomed to the speed and physicality of the big game without getting the shit bashed out of them every week.

The try Fainu scored was a great play between three youngsters, they need to play more games in NSW cup this year rather than NRL.

You don’t build a winning culture losing and getting bashed every week, that’s just soul sapping, the tigers would be better off concentrating on winning a minor comp like NSW Cup and very gradually bringing winners into the top grade.

Disagree 100%, you put Bula in a side like Brisbane, Melbourne or Parra where everyone pulls their weight his is an absolute superstar, the Tigers woeful attack robs him of any opportunity, poor kid is out there looking to create diamonds from dung. Can’t remember the last time he got a quality ball before Glavins beautiful inside ball today.
