Ross's lifting tackle has earnt him a week on the sideline. Lucky he didn't break someone's jaw otherwise he'd be spending some serious time out- Oh wait...

I doubt the NRL has a lot of say in it directly, it would be up to insurance companies to determine I would think.

The NRL rubber stamped Watmough's retirement in five seconds. The Eels are still fighting with the insurance company as to who foots the bill. It has nothing to do with the insurance company and everything to do with Greenberg doing favours for a team that systematically cheated. The Eels should be playing for zero points this year and collect the spoon.

I'm pretty sure one of our current or former players fingered someone on the match review committee's missus at some point. We cop so many ridiculous suspensions.

It's not only the match review committee its Todd Greensnot and the rest of the incompetence in the NRL. Look at the double standard with the referee's- teams expected to win are referred differently, the draw- hardly any home games unto the end of the season, players retiring with injuries Snowden compared to Watmough, etc.
Why is this happening cause no one from Newcastle is making a noise about so Todd Greensnot and his incompetents are getting away with it.
The CEO needs to make a stand against the owners and say we want a fair go

Mitch Rein apparently may be a signing for us next year so the rumors say.

He would go well with Mamo, they could exchange hair clips and plat each others hair before games. :p

Though I don't know why we are recruiting hookers when we have 2. Sure Rein or Kostjacyn are both likely better hookers than we currently have, but we need players in other positions more urgently.

I've been perusing the Marathon Stadium site and Billy has posted some interesting info re Snowden's contract being paid out and the reason it is taking so long. Wouldn't surprise me if it's true.

I'm going to miss watching Ross next week. He's one of those players that even in a losing team, you like to go watch what he does.

The suspension is fare enough though. Consistency from the judiciary isn't fair though.

I dont put any credence in the rein rumour.
I mean look at the "website" reporting it.
So until someone with a bit more reputation calls it, then I'm going to ignore it

Same, I wouldn't call it a strong rumour. But he is unsigned, so speculation will happen I guess.

We don't need hookers though, unless they are intent on getting rid of randell.

What did everyone think of Ross tackle?

It doesn't look to dangerous to me, he doesn't pick up McQueen from under his legs he gets him around the waist and just makes a strong tackle. It was just so strong that McQueen gets flipped over. He even flips McQueen onto his back and whilst there was danger that he could end up in a dangerous position, Ross made sure he feel safely.

I also notice O'Brien from the Eels has got a grade one for a late knee to the back of a try scorer and will be free to play. IMO it was much much worse then Mamo's who got a grade two for trying to stop Harris scoring against Melbourne as few weeks ago. Mamo's was simultaneous with the try scorer, not late like O'Brien's and he didn't slide his knees into him dangerously at all. If O'Brien's is a grade one then Mamo's is nothing.

But we all know it's about what colour jersey you're wearing...

Mamo's was rubbish. Should never have been charged.

Ross's tackle was careless. These days, you shouldn't lift in tackles at all. A week is fair.

If you believe the media then the Drags and Rein have been negotiating quite happily for some time and have now fallen out over valuations.

So anyone talking about it being a done deal were talking out their arse.
