I don't mind if Ross spends some time in NSW cup and has to fight his way back into the side. He's had a pretty poor start to the year, especially with his defensive positioning and was pretty woeful in our last game.

Sio is not a world beater but his defence is really solid especially in the air when fielding those high kicks to the wings. Wouldn't mind seeing him get a game or two at this stage, and if Ross carves up in reggies and earns his spot back then that's even better for the team too.

Ross is part of the leadership group, so a bit hard to see how he can be dropped after one poor game.

It just seems weird after Brown has mentioned numerous times about players having runs on the board after earning them over the last few years (ie Barnett straight into the starting side after no preseason) or players being given an opportunity to cement a position and not having to worry about being dropped (ie Watson at 5/8).

You'd think Ross has done enough over the last few seasons to be given a good opportunity to gel with Moga before the threat of Sio taking his place was used by Brown.

I don't know if I read it in an article or on here somewhere, but it was mentioned that Ross' contribution in games has been down. Yet he's either matched or outdone SKD for hit ups or metres made so far this season. He dished up tries for Watson twice against Canberra and helped win the game. He certainly hasn't set the world on fire in the opening three games, but it's hardly form that deserves to be dropped for.

Bedsy was so good at getting the fowards on the front foot. I don't understand the technique exactly but he would often get up and pass the ball on the move and provide the forwards some more momentum and room to get a roll on. I haven't seen anyone do it better. Cam Smith wasn't as good at getting the forwards going but excelled in every other aspect. His kicking and decision making is spot on 99% of the time and this gives the halves so much room to do their thing.

In contrast, our hookers are okay/decent first grade player quality but not real high quality specialist hookers. I am not complaining because a player like Bedsy or Cam Smith a once in a generation but it would be nice to have a specialist hooker instead of one smallish lock with decent service, one utility player who would rather play in the halves and one one trick pony who can't defend that well (I am being super harsh on all three of them to make a point as I personally believe all three of them are solid first grade players). At the moment I do prefer to see Watson get 20 minutes at hooker but I think we always need three really big forwards on the bench if our 17 has Slade, Watson and Lamb.

I am still worried about being so small in the forwards. We don't play a power game, a mobility game nor a technical game with our forwards. Our forwards are smaller, never offload and don't play make with the ball in hand. I'm not sure if this is deliberate but I hope we start to carry bigger blokes on the bench. I think the pack will improve over the course of the season and the Twins will start to dominate games week in week out. Lilyman provides a great opening platform, Ese'ese is a beast but we lose steam after they go off. Hopefully the Twins step up sooner rather than later.

Best of luck for this one gents! Looking forward to a cracking game in the Gong on Sunday.

Obviously i'll be disappointed if the Dragons lose, but it won't hurt so much against you blokes. You've been my second team for years. So pleasing to see such a passionate club on the rise again.

Thanks mate. Same to you guys. I think you will have a bit too much for us at home but hoping we can compete well and be close at the end to make a game of it.

Cityrail encourages all Knights suporters to make the journey by train with one lucky punter earning a bottle of coke and a blowy for riding Cityrail.....

Roosters forward pack gave us a real touch up, I'm afraid the Dragons will go even harder. Don't have the size to match. Could be ugly!

Is the Dragons pack really that much bigger???

I just don't see the aggression and hard running from some of our blokes that the better packs havè but having two 6 foot 5 and 115 plus kg bench props come on sure does't mean we lack size. Fitzy and Guerra aren't small men either. They give us size on the edges we haven't had for years.

On another note, the Warriors showed how to towel the Roosters up and did the exact opposite to the shit we dished up last week. Was great to watch.

Game day!

We’re gonna get destroyed but I’m still looking forward to the game. We’re at least fun to watch.

Wasn't so much the size I was referring to from the Dragons, more so their intensity, and after last week we lacked that. We will have to be better up the middle in defence and attack.

It's not the size of our pack but the lack of aggression, mainly in defence, need to hit hard and stop the opposition not allow them to walk on or off load. Like to see them angry, not dirty but legal big hits.

Definitely. At some stage we have to win the advantage line on both sides of the ball but I don't see our style achieving that.

I reckon the only way we'll win this one is if they lose. By that I mean they need to mess up.
I just don't think we are far enough along.
The Lamb / Pearce combination will be interesting. They would have trained together a lot. I hope they compliment each other and don't hinder each other. Their styles are much closer than Watson / Pearce.
Moga and Ross need to get something working together. Apparently, they stayed back to work on passing from Moga to Ross but defence is my worry.

If we get on top early and rattle them we might be an outside chance.

Our only hope really is if the Dragons go in with the mentality that they've already won.

That's not being negative but just realistic. We're still trying to put combinations together and we're well and truly in that early period of the year where the Dragons play brilliantly before capitulating later on.

Only one team change...D Saf starting, Barnett to bench.

Brown must be counting on the big bodies to weather the early storm before bringing on Barnett's mobility to take advantage of a tiring middle
