just enjoy the wins why you can before you play the top teams

there’s a reason most experts (myself included) tipped yous for the spoon so don’t get to carried away
No offence, but you don’t seem like much of an expert, and you made a special effort to come here and highlight it for us.

Bravo.

The confidence within the team is absolutely fantastic so far, and the best they have looked as a collective unit for a long time, If we get 2023 end of Season Ponga when he returns, it could be incredible.

Random stats guy just put up a stat that says the last time we started 4-1 for the season was 2015

Anyone remember how we finished that year?

Love you too 😘, but no-one asked. Let us kids sort it out huh. Are we not allowed to celebrate being 4-1 to start the year?
Righteo, I see you're going down the path of unsubstantiated personal insults on a web forum to cover up your inadequacies. Classic move
Agree, you put me in a mood. I'll just go and like all the posts of people actually talking sense on the matter instead.
Hunt at centre? Holy sh#t whoever is calling for that is kidding. Do we forget him being an absolute turnstyle in defence when shoved there last year? He literally couldn't stick on a tackle. His best position is fullback, and he still has too many errors there to be reliable. Does some great things for sure, but makes too many errors to be useful there long term. He's young so he might get there, but he ain't there now. So we take the freaky with the frustrating of his performance thus far. He's doing a job and it seems to be good enough.

Anyhoo, great win. The end (i.e. most of the 6 years) of the O'Brien tenure was soul destroying and coma-inducing. Thank god for Justin Holbrook for taking one offseason to inject some joy into the playing group and the fan base. It's been most welcome.
Mate there's people who have him pencilled in as the heir apparent to any vacant spot we have in the team. He's a project that needs a lot of work imo, but there's some stuff there to work with long term. I'm in trouble for humouring him apparently, but look at the reaction when his errors are mentioned 😂.

I really hope you aren't referring to me when you're saying people have penciled him as heir apparent to any spot. The kids a winger or a fullback and has done a great job at both. Centre is a different prospect and I think, and have said a few times now, that De Courcey will be the guy to replace Gags. He's gone past McCarthy in my eyes and clearly in the coaching staffs too given his selection today.

You argue with so many people on here I think you're falling victim to mixing up who stands on what

Nup, not you in particular - but it's a sentiment that is shared far beyond these humble walls. I'd like to see more of De Courcey at NRL level, thought he held his gloves up pretty well yesterday.

We’ve won 2/3 without our 2 top highest paid players. Let’s see how the Eels go when Moses goes down again.

So now we lose Bradman for 4 weeks. Just need JSaf and Dylan Lucas to go down next and that should be about 95 per cent of our salary cap on ice within the first 6 weeks. That takes some doing, even for us!

Everyone will have their opinion. But I think you should be confident that your assessment here is 100% correct.

Was a big effort game with all putting in big.
Am coming to think that when Brown is back he might return to 6 with Smith 7 and Sharpe to 1 until KP is back then it’s tough decision making time.
Hunt played strong but like a few on here I think he could do with a time in Cup at 1 to develop a bit more, very handy backup but is likely in the 19 until KP returns.
know the Sharpe to 1 move will cop flack but Smith is going well and although both the best goal kicker we were light on in that department

Props aren't expected to make 150m every week like they used to. Our backs make plenty of meters and Mooney has been great in defense, has a good offload and is doing the hard yards. Wasn't spectacular in terms of metres made but didn't let anyone down.

Everyone here still of the opinion Croker isn't NRL standard? He looks plenty good to me. Playing the linking role to great affect. Frizzell is crazy. The impact he brings off the bench is outstanding.

First game I've been to in a long time and what a day out it was. NSW Cup came from behind to win with a field goal and first grade is just a joy to watch this year. Perhaps the biggest difference this year is there's fight in the team. Despite injuries to our best players they're ripping in. When things go against them during matches they fight back. We never had that spirit under AOB.

In fact, the AOB tenure was the worst the side ever looked and played. We only ever looked gear when Ponga was in form. How the club re-signed the guy on the back of the form of a single player is beyond me. Put us back a few years but I'm glad we finally got there in the end. This is a joy to see. Even the Warriors game, I thought we got absolutely dudded of any chance to compete and I consider the game an outlier due to the officiating. This season is building into something...

It’s like over the last few years AOB just dumbed everything down so much that the players stopped believing in themselves and basically got the idea that as long as they’re a bunch of hard workers who try hard then that’s ok and the coach will be happy. But in actual fact most of these guys are way better players than AOB was able to coach them to be and now we’re seeing them flourish under Holbrook.

We saw at the back end of ‘23 what the players were capable of attacking wise, but O’brien tied their hands and doubled down on completions and defence. That only gets you so far.
You can only be on the back foot for so long every week before you stop giving 100%, and it’s amazing how much scoring tries and positive attack can give you a 2nd wind.

Yep agreed. I don’t see him as a long term centre, imo he’s a good fullback/wing option.
He’s got a good build, if he can put some size on I could see him as a decent wing option
to be fair you were the main basher of Crossland for season after season of the kid when he started, so much so it sounded personal. You have exactly zero eye for talent.

That's the crazy part. Our completion is so much better now. It's better when we throw offloads and try to play some footy instead of giving it one pass out of the ruck to our undersized forwards to get smashed.

What part of beating the Cowboys, Manly, Bulldogs and Raiders have some people missed? The first three being away games. We were dog shit against the Warriors. Every single one of those sides were top 8 last year. It is incredible why negatives are still being found. The draw has been very tough and we have stood tall.
