Still think it's 100% a coaching issue and not a personnel issue.
Coach is responsible for selecting the team and their style of play so isn't it both? Anyhow, that's just my 2 bob's worth mate. You know your own team much more than I do I'm sure.

My back is dicky today so trading a plastic seat in bay 52 for my couch. I would usually be filthy on missing the game but strangely zen today, hard to get hyped for traipsing to the ground to watch them get lapped.

yep

Spine is arguably the worst in the competition and the pack is bottom 8.

Too many years buying average players for above average salary, and getting below average performance.

Sully is changing that but it will take a couple of years to see the benefit.

Coach can only select from the pool of talent the recruitment has managed to assemble. Style of play yep sure.

In my opinion our roster is worse than the Roosters this year, yet the media commentary and expectation is vastly different.

We are appreciably worse than last year, and last year was appreciably worse than 2023.

We have a bottom 2 roster. It's us and the Eels.
Mooney/Brown assembled a decent roster, with a cap in shape, that needed some minor tinkering.

Then come along a revolving door of inexperienced recruiting officer appointments. Poor recruitment options and a pear shaped cap as a result.

I might be in the minority here but I don’t really have an issue with a lot of AOB’s selections. We call out for a change and usually within a couple of weeks he does it (usually putting himself up for media criticism by doing it too).

At the end of the day though you can’t pick better players who don’t exist. I urge those having a go at his team selections to decide who they would have picked this week instead.

My issues with him are purely tactical and the type of football we’re playing in attack…but I’m also not sure if this current team can execute more than they’re given. You’d think with Ponga, Best and Gagai we should be able to play good attacking football, but also it’s hard when we don’t have anyone in the spine capable of getting them into good positions.

Isn't your coach a central part of your recruitment team though? in the end, he's been there long enough for this squad to be clearly his squad. Team selections are his selections. For me, I think the Sharpe to 6 experiment has failed but O'Brien is sticking by it. That's on him.

I recall the Knights being an attacking juggernaut when they had structure to set up Ponga flying onto the ball out the back on an arching run terrorising the defence. Where's that gone?

Not at the Knights. I’ve heard it mentioned a few times that AOB doesn’t get much say in the recruitment here. I don’t necessarily agree with that. Maybe they don’t think he’ll be around for long.

The big difference between the attack you speak of in 2023 to now is losing both halves. Gamble to injury and Hastings fell off a cliff after he was injured.

Ponga has touched it more than he did in the first half last week already. Not even joking.
