I don't see how we win a game with Hodko at half. You wouldn't forgive his form if he was 18 and on $85k. It's absolutely criminal. Just sad and pathetic.

This is it though Pervy - he plays like an 85K player. I can't defend Brown anymore. He must remove the joker. It does not matter who fills in for him.

Yeah. As said above. The fight was huge by the. It's in second half. Just a damn shame not seeing it rewarded by the general on the park.

I'd love to see brown drop hodgo for cogger, but then your just putting another rookie under pressure... plus he's injured.

Hodkinson is obviously very poor but he's not the only spine player we're getting nothing from - it's just much more unacceptable from him given his experience/price tag compared to Lamb and Elliot (who has done his job but isn't going to help win you a game either).

We're really 2 quality spine players off going up another level. Ponga is one but we desperately need a creative half. Maybe Bird wasn't actually what we needed but we need something there.

Our best was Sio by far. He's been a wonderful signing. Barnett was horrendous tonight.

So over spirit and effort to fall short because we have shit halves.
Flat line passing, the odd short ball and stuff-ups is all we have.

Lamb is out-playing Hodkinson, and has done all year. He's pretty shit, but he's not Hodko level shit, and when you consider their price tags and age it's a no brainer. Hodko must go. If Brown doesn't get rid of him then it's possible that Brown needs to go, too.

Even a week in cup to give him a smack upside the head. Just do something for the love of God, Brown is letting down the rest of his squad by not at least signalling that this is unacceptable.

Who do we replace Hodgo with though? There is currently no quality back up the Knights have that would be a tiny bit better. It would in fact be worse. If Cogger was fit and playing well then sure but, there is nothing better.

Can't possibly be worse.

How could it be worse??? Give me an extra forward and Barnett at 6 over Hodkinson. Play f**king Daifiti at 7 over Hodko. Don't even care. It can't possibly work out worse than what Hodkinson isn't producing.

I agree with all those comments on Hodko so I won't bother adding to it.

Instead I'll say I'm really frustrated that we never create any second phase play, and on the odd occasion that we do it's always an after thought and no one is ever there to make anything of it because they're all standing back and watching instead of supporting the ball carrier.

These are the guys in our line-up who I think are worth persevering with post 2017.

1. Ponga
2. Sio
3. Pete
4. Gags
5. Ross
6. ?
7. ?
8. ?
9. Levi
10. ?
11. Sione
12. Buhrer
13. Barnett

14. D Saifiti
15. Pauli (pending his return from injury)
16. J Saifiti
17. ?

So based on that I actually think we have a decent backline, at least it's not an area of massive weakness. It's our front row and spine where we need a massive overhaul. We have to throw the kitchen sink at Foran now I think, offer him $1.5m I don't care anymore. Get him to the club!

Well mate be a little legit. Brown isn't going to drop a "half" for a forward to take his place. I get your pissed but that's just silly. Brown currently has no other option to help him but to BLAST Hodgo and get him to take ownership of his performance.

I hate to say it, but him being injured for season would a blessing as they'd be forced to replace and maybe mid season signing. Don't know who we'd sign though. Hopefully a Frawly.

I never understood this. While he is bad, if you don't have someone to replace him with it would be worse and possibly ruin some 18 year olds confidence and career.

It's not silly in the slightest when your halfback is actively preventing you from competing. It's generally the job of the coach to figure out the best 17 to get you to win, not to worry about how "silly" it is to drop a half for a forward.

This is exactly the thing. Every other option we have is just as shit as him (it's just more annoying with Hodko because his pay packet is much higher) - realistically we're not getting rid of him unless we sign another half (which we're trying to do but keep getting rejected).

Yeah and Brown is most certainly doing his job because there is NOTHING to replace him with.

I agree with you that Hodgo has been playing terribly - as it has been well established - but there is GENUINELY no-one else to replace him that would be a better option. It will remain this way until Cogger is possibly back and playing a few games and playing damn well or we get a mid season signing.

Until then we can only hope Brown is pulling Hogo aside and telling to pick up his game.

It sends a shit message to the entire squad to keep him there playing so poorly. If any other player in the team was putting this shit in they wouldn't be in first grade. It's shit like this that gave us a whole generation of lazy, entitled turds.

I'm done. I've had it with him. I don't believe you can convince me that he deserves to be anywhere but NSW cup immediately. The halves in our lower grades deserve an opportunity to prove they can produce something better than the absolute nothingness/actively harmful defense that Hodko gives us, I don't care how shit they are. I can't imagine them doing any worse, and if they won't do any worse, then Hodko needs to go.

Tonight proved to me beyond doubt a large portion of our problems is a lack of leadership. We played no worse really than any other week (par the Penrith game) but when the game got a little tough, there wasn't anyone to step to keep the side focused. That's what Buhrer brings to this side and it's something we missed tonight. When we were in the same position we were in last week, the same we were in the week before, we just lack energy, we lacked drive and determination.

And if Buhrer isn't there and won't be there for the next two months, then it should fall to our actual captain but hey, he can't even function as an "okay" halfback.

He can't even function as a bad halfback. Bad would be a huge improvement for him.
