what about when staggs writes something like, Kris told me in will be back in 2 weeks. Straight from the horses mouth.

Should he need a link?

As Twizzle said, Kris is the source and we are aware of the link that stagger has to a few players and people within the club over the number of years he has been on the forum. We can at the very least verify his previous information to be correct.

If someone came on and made their first post stating the same thing than its likely it would be asked for a source.

i can understand DA's concern about maybe breaking up some consistancy. But Mateo is too good a player, as said bring him onto the bench in place of benny unfortunaltey, unless benny moves to prop off bench and wright goes. But i think mateo for smith would be the best swap.

DA can bring him on in stages to ease feleti back in. He will add alot to the side atm with all the playing confidence they have, he would just have to stop all the off loads til he is comfortable in there again.

So if GreatApe messaged you his source, will it be ok?

Feleti's run gives us go forward however, defense wise, we could be down.

However, if we make the finals, Feleti will provide that extra firepower that we need.

Drop Wright. Caylo, Mannah, Fui to play more minutes and Hindy to fill in at Prop for a short time. It was mentioned that Mannah played less minutes than normal last week,.

If I was DA, I wouldn't rush Mateo back... can understand him being happy with the 17 and their effort and results in the past two weeks.

Give them a chance to make it three in a row against a team like the Sharks, and give Feleti (and Kris) some time to get match fit.

I wouldn`t rush either of them back. I don`t think anybody is playing badly enough to be dropped. I think Ben Smith is just coming good, and to drop him now would be a serious error. I also think that if we suddenly dropped Robson for Keating, we might start leaking a lot of points. If Robson was just a bit more dynamic in attack or had an excellent kicking game, it would be a no brainer - you`d just keep him in the side. But the dilemma Anderson is faced with is: do you keep him for his incredible defense, or do you put in Keating for his better attack, with the thought that he might just absolutely ignite this team into the finals? Tough decision.

not really, its needs to be posted for all to see

the idea of sourcing an allegation is to take the onus off League Unlimited

if a member makes an allegation that he heard it from a trainer or what ever, then he takes the responsibility as it says in the highlighted part of the guidelines that I posted above

Indeed.

With Kingston playing well off the bench too, there's really no obvious player to drop for K Keating's return.

We could probably lose Lowrie for Mateo in a heartbeat, but I'd prefer to see Ben Smith start at lock for two weeks with Lowrie on the bench, to be replaced there by a returning Mateo once he sheds a few Kgs to be match fit.

But the K Keating issue is a tricky one... Robson's defence is needed in the side at the moment, it would almost come down to a choice between Mortimer or Keating, in terms of what they give to the side - very similar players/roles.

Are the mods saying that information must have been published elsewhere before it can appear on LU?

I mean, the only way it can be 'sourced' is if it has already been published ...

I'd suggest it depends on how the information is presented by the person posting...

If it's presented as a fact, then obviously it needs to be backed up. Source either online or reference to published source gets the site of the hook it the "fact" ends up dodgy.

But if it's clearly presented as just a rumour, or a possibility etc, then it can be taken like that by posters and readers alike, and little harm can come of it for anyone.

The trouble comes when people are sure their fact is right, and insist on saying it's a fact and naming an (unprovable) source, rather than just putting it forward here as "word going around is", using words like "maybe", and adding a ;-), and being happy enough that they'll likely be "proved" right later on.

The solution is to put everything in quotation marks or to use someone else as a scapegoat. Or both:

"Kris Keating is definitely on the comeback trail and should be back within 3 weeks," said Stagger.

For example, if Grapeape's original post was reworded something like this:

A little birdy told me Mateo was cleared by the doc this week to play. ;-)

But it might be that Ando MD the dik thinks hes not ready. doesnt want to upset a winning team i think. thinks hes got the grand final winning combination of lowrie and robson.

mateo + 20kgs and one arm is still better than lowrie imo.

I heard KK is expected to be cleared next week. ;-) and hes match ready. fit little f**ker!

...then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

now I know why Josh writes for the Telecrap and not here, he needs to keep his Boardroom source under raps.
