generally with something like this we'll give the member a bit of time to respond as, although its not sourced, its not the sort of thing that can cause problems for the site, but it does for the moderators who, if they don't remove it, get accused of not being consistent

its a no win situation for some of us, especially when everyone has to agree to the rules prior to joining, yet complain when they are enforced

but seriously - this is just someone sharing a bit of harmless info - why does it need a source? - its not info that might be harmful to anyone, so what if its even wrong? (which I don't think it is i think this guy knows someone from stuff he's posted before) - readers can make their minds up whether to believe or not .... a large part of why I (and I assume others) read this place is to find out little bits of info like this - if people feel they have to justify every little harmless bit of info they post they'll stop bothering

I guess its a matter of where you draw the line, if you draw one at all

if you don't draw the line, then everything must be sourced, if you do draw the line, then you get accused of being inconsistent, its a no win situation for a moderator especially when you are friends with the people who's posts you are removing

its may also be a matter of what you consider harmless

what if the eels coaching staff didn't wanted the Sharks to know the makeup of our team, they would have announced it yesterday, why give the sharks a wake up call on what our final make up would be

what do you define as harmless ?

if you read the emails we get sent from various people and some of the threats we receive, you'd understand

its quite OK to discuss it Strider, sometimes its better than keeping it bottled up, at least then members can get a clearer understanding of what we have to do and some of the stuff we have to deal with

What Twizz said. I'm not privy to all the emails that get sent but some people can be quite pedantic when it comes to information that gets posted. I know recently we've had to do a bit of a search to find some posts that were considered litigious by the person they were said about however those posts went back to 2005.

We may be seemingly over pedantic however that is mostly because we'd like to keep the site up and running for everyone.

I liked these posts. I like the posts from staggs with the wink or any who have contacts at parra ala cgee, musashi, newmanj, parrapete, parrafuture, and the one's who knows INU's mum, jodeci, delboy, hellsy, jess etc.

It's also a big reason I come back to this site.

Can we have a place like parallel dimension and call it UNSOURCED THREADS and then have a disclaimer on the top?

Yes. We don't check the identity of everyone who posts on the forum so we don't know who is privy to the information - anyone can gain access to PD if they've been on the forum long enough.

ok - seriously - next time stagger shares some info he has without explicitly saying where it came from, I hope you decide to apply the consistency rules and delete it .... cos last week stagger made the statement that those 2 were pretty much ready to go and never said that it had come from them until afterwards and I didn't see any moderation or asking for sources going on there :?

just so you know mate, I've been pulled up on more than 1 occasion for unsourced "so called" scoops...;-)
