I respectfully disagree.
In my opinion he hasn't.We're coming outright first after 1/2 the season...yet Mary hasn't improved at all.
Oh boy.
This.I have said this for ages.
Cattle is everything.
Coaches are secondary
I have said the same thing. Maybe Mary was overachieving in 2015 and 2017 when we were leading the comp after 8 rounds or so in each of those years. We started off one of the favourites for the spoon both of those years.I have said this for ages.
Cattle is everything.
Coaches are secondary
If you replaced Cronk with McCrone then Bellamy wouldn’t have any premierships to his name - not sure this proves much.In my opinion he hasn't.
Replace Graham, Hunt and Dufty with Packer, McCrone and Dugan and I guarantee we wouldn't be in the position we're in currently.
Yes true but that isn't saying that he isn't a good coach, merely that he now has a capable roster where he has not beforehand. In my opinion he hasn't.
Replace Graham, Hunt and Dufty with Packer, McCrone and Dugan and I guarantee we wouldn't be in the position we're in currently.
Haha.If you replaced Cronk with McCrone then Bellamy wouldn’t have any premierships to his name - not sure this proves much.
Yeah, you’re right. Instead he’d have probably not renewed his contract and signed one of the leagues top halfbacks.... waaaaaaaiiiit a minute.....Haha.
Poor analogy as Bellamy wouldn't have kept picking an underperforming numpty at 7.
If cattle wasn't everything we wouldn't of had 11 in a row.If cattle was everything,Warriors would have several premierships under their belt by now.
Maybe not everything but it's a massive factor. If cattle was everything,Warriors would have several premierships under their belt by now.
Even Mary wouldn’t have been able to balls that up totally. Steve Price on the other hand...Maybe not everything but it's a massive factor.
Meninga coached for a decade the most talented collective group of players in the history of the game. Anybody could have coached that team to victory.
Except maybe McGregor.
But kept picking him anyway. Despite him costing us game after game.Yeah, you’re right. Instead he’d have probably not renewed his contract and signed one of the leagues top halfbacks.... waaaaaaaiiiit a minute.....
McCrone sucked but there were not really any great options at halfback last year. Luckily they moved him on and signed a gun as Damo has eluded to.But kept picking him anyway. Despite him costing us game after game.
Besides, I credit Millward with the signing, not McGregor.
Tis true - and not that I want to start the Mary and McCrone fan club it’s worth noting the replacement options were not stellar. And that for the first ten games or so McCrone played probably better than he ever had and much better than i thought possible. But the point stands that any coach will do better with a highly competent halfback in the team than they would with McCrone. But kept picking him anyway. Despite him costing us game after game.
Besides, I credit Millward with the signing, not McGregor.
Not actually a fan of Mcregor - have pointed out flaws and criticised him plenty. But I’m a huge fan of the team this year and how they are playing. And it’d be dishonest not to give him some credit.Damo. You're a fan. I'm not. Neither of us will convert the other. Go Saints.
Yeah true, footy in the 50s and 60s is exactly the same as footy in the 2010s. Players back then definitely had full time training, nutrition plans, multiple coaching staff and high performance units, video analysis and everything that’s the same as today’s game. The coaching requirements are identical too, hence why there’s so many Captain-coaches today. If cattle wasn't everything we wouldn't of had 11 in a row.
