I could swear that it was hinted at - Duffy possibly leaving and joining Brown a couple of months backs ?

Could be wrong , but regardless I am predicting a big year for the Duff under the guidance of Griffin . I reckon that his try tally this season will be the best he has had and try assists for that matter .

Should this be the case then I am just as sure that Griffo will have a quiet word with him about remaining at the Big Red V .
I like Ramsey at fullback. I think his defence and confidence under the high ball will be great for our team. I think that Dufty and Ramsey will share the fullback spot in 2021 with Ramsey becoming our long term fullback from 2022 on.

There are not that many good 9s in the market, we have Dufty, Ramsey, Sloan, Bird and Schiller to name a few that could play 1 for us. I love the Duft man but if we had to make cuts to save money as sad as it is to say id go with Ramsey and probably let Dufty go, use that money to pay McInnes what he's worth.

Agree.Hypothetically if it came down to losing Dufty to keep McInnes I’d be totally fine with that

Block of Cheese, Brandon Smith is a great buy. I'd make a big play for him.

McInnes wanted a 4 year deal and that was the sticking point. I suppose the club thought his knee would not stand up to the bash and barge for four years.

Dragons star Matt Dufty hits out at ‘toxic environment’ under former coach Paul McGregor

St George Illawarra Dragons fullback Matt Dufty has opened up on the “toxic environment” that engulfed the club during a disastrous 2020 campaign.

The Dragons finished in 12th place and missed the NRL finals with coach Paul McGregor shown the door in August.

Dufty found himself at stages in and out of the Dragons team as McGregor experimented with different options for the No.1 jersey.

“It was a pretty toxic environment – it’s not anything against anyone that was there, but we weren’t playing well.

“I didn’t know if I was going to play or get dropped – I didn’t think I should have, but that’s footy and I have grown up a lot since then. I’m a confidence player and I think when the year went on, I was confident in my own ability.

Dufty admitted the signing of Corey Norman had affected his confidence.

“That’s what I lost a few years ago, especially when they signed Normy (Corey Norman) – I lost my role coming off 2018 when I thought I was playing really well and thinking I should have started.
“For me personally, it took a big toll on my personal life – nothing serious, but myself mentally. Nobody likes feeling like that, so getting back to my best footy was good and I grabbed it with both hands and never felt better.

“Now I’m back to where I know I should be. All the coaches here have a lot of faith in me.”

Dufty said there was a different feeling under new coach Anthony Griffin with the next generation of Dragons players knocking on the door.

“It’s been a bit of a different feel you could say. I hadn’t played as many games as last year since 2018 I think, and definitely this year I come in feeling old,” he said.

“It’s a young squad, I’m 25 and time has flown. We’ve got boys like Cody (Ramsey) and Sloaney (Tyrell Sloan) that are there behind me itching to play first grade and itching to play fullback. That’s giving me more drive, and I’m feeling very confident after last year.”

And from age 28, big difference between Lomax at 20 getting 5 years and McInnes wanting 4 at 28.
I don't have a problem with the way things went with McInnes, although I do feel sorry for him being out for the season with a serious injury.

I'm sure there is more untold facts to this story. Some cross words between Coach and Captain maybe even a conversation where McInnes is defending Mary, who knows. What ever the case Griffin and McInnes in the end said the right things publically.

Dufty come across like a little bitch tbh. Stop talking to the media and focus on your game
Don't believe everything you read in the papers.

Plus it's important to remember that the club and their managers provide media access to the players.

what is a confidence player?

is that a person who has a fixed view that if everyone around them isnt cheering them on then this affects their performance?

What about a Growth mindset sports person?

Are they relying on the known and the cheering?

i dont think so.

learning, improving, growing isnt inextricably linked to positive feedback and certainty

The unknown and the drive to succeed should come from the learning, the improvement and the growing

Dragons fans: “McGregor is shit and there are plenty of young guns as options for fullback”

Dufty: “McGregor was toxic and I know I need to play well as there are a couple of young guns after my spot”

Dragons fans: “Dufty should shut up. What the f**k does he know?”

Im tipping Dufty to have a much better time of it this year..its early days into 2021 I know but hes improved under the high balls thus far from what Ive seen, so thats a start.....Hook needs to work on his positional play now and his timing when and where to chime into the backline....lets be honest hes never going to be your last line of defence like a Graham Eadie or Changa Langlands or a kick return specialist like Gary Jack or Billy Slater, but if Griffin can instill some smarts and confidence into his game he has the ability to be a match winner......theres not much of him I know but Les Johns from Canterbury Bankstown was built very similar and he was a bloody fantastic full back
