Matthew Lodge Arrested in New York

Not the first time Lodge has lost his shit and certainly won't be the last. Reminds me of Todd Carney in that does not appear to show any remorse or accept responsibility for his actions. We've all made mistakes but repeat offenders tend to be the ones that don't admit they've done the wrong thing and hence don't learn from their mistakes.

thats in dispute tho
he claims he did admit fault , remorse etc

that needs to be investigated properly

if their lawyer didn't pass on his act of contrition to the victims
then it adds a whole new light to this saga

Did you read the facts? Its not a few bad words and a streetfight. The prick had invaded their home and went on a rampage with the wife, kid and girl inside while the dad was locked out. They probably thought the were going to die.

As for amount, the US has triple damages so it could be that. Us figure was 1.2m, so damage claim of $400k is not unreasonable

its a ludicrous figure

I will say this:

I would gladly let Lodge get me in a headlock and throw a few punches for 1.5m.

His actions were violent and disgusting.

But exactly how they came about a 1.5m pay out I've no idea.

Anyone is welcome to assault me and say a few mean words to my family for that much!

Also, the family saying they are traumatised and will never get over it... again it won't be a popular opinion but to that I say you need to harden up.

It can be a nasty world out there. No doubt it was a scary incident; but NEVER get over it?

I personally don't understand why people would choose to be a victim like that.

Les remember one fact Packer went AWOL under Wayne’s watch at Newcastle, I suppose Wayne had other things in his mind.

I anticipated the SJWs would be super upset.

But if this happened to me I'm not telling myself and my family that we're poor widdle victims for life. I'm going to show a bit more strength than that.

"Son, about this incident... you'll be traumatised for LIFE! So I suggest you curl up in a ball and never go outside, EVER."

It was a traumatic episode. I get it. I really do. But now you can either be strong and refuse to let that horrible merkin have power over you and your family for the rest of your life; or you can convince yourselves that you'll be traumatised for all eternity in which case you lose.

By all means choose the latter but that's not the way I'd go. No one died or was seriously hurt. People have overcome worse.

I think the bulk of the above comments are in relation to the trauma the 9 year old child suffered.

It was f**ked up, no doubt.

I just hope the parent's comments are posturing and they're not actually telling him that he'll be traumatised for life.

Kids are resilient. He'll be sweet.

I understand they are, but having seen many, many incidents of violence, I know it impacts kids in different ways. There's no magic fix to ensure they'll end up well adjusted people. Some do, some don't. let's hope this kid does.

Nobody's as tough as this guy.

Paying lodge base NRL wage isn't making it easier for lodge to make good on his debt. Despite what we think of the man, that is far below market value

Is it? the guy's a ticking time bomb.

I would've thought Newy would stay away from players Bennett was trying to sign after what he did to the club. Was it ever confirmed they were tabling an offer, why would they ruin their 'redemption' feel good story by signing Lodge?

but we've all been pretty loose & free with our opinions about everything else in this matter tho
would it make it better for you , if you were the victim ?
I haven’t been loose at all. My comments/opinions are no different to plenty of others.
As for your question, if justice was an apology, a jail sentence or money then whatever is decided would be some form a closure. That’s all I could ask for.

Would the money make it better for you?

Realllly hoping Lodge plays so out of his skin he forces himself into the frame for the Blues. This thread will be a lot of fun then.

Has Lodge actually had any NRL imposed sanctions over this particular incident in NY ?
