i think Matty was very nervous and will be better for the run
i dont think Sydney audiences would warm to Shane webke
some of the skits were a bit flat imo

Webby's cool, but you might, be right, unfortunately . I rarely watch the Thursday night Footy Show, but i don't ever recall seeing 'The King' on it, although he is very involved with Ch9 here in Queensland, doing both the sports report on the nightly news, and also co hosting the Queensland Friday night game, with Vossy. I much prefer them to 'have another bet' Warren and 'have another bet' Sterling .

Can't wait for the next 'home town' ad's, or 'home while you're away' skits.. they were sensational!

If they shape the show more towards a feature-focussed show involving the NRL players instead of focusing on 'light-entertainment' and skits then the show will be on a good thing.

The best bits of last night, I found, were the segments where the players were involved, there are players with their own sense of humour and it'll appeal to a wider audience. It means Matt would not have to be too involved in everything and would still be quite relevant to the NRL (and would differentiate it well from TFS).

The 2nd show was a slight improvement on the first - Johns looked a lot more relaxed , still not up to scratch though IMO ....seriously Webcke and Stevens have about as much charisma as an artichoke .....

You sir, do stuffed artichokes an injustice! In relation to the show, it has failed to grab my interest and I much prefer Nine's sunday morning line up (even with MG, bless his soul). The Sunday Footy Show and The Sunday Roast are far more engaging and should be the benchmark for the thursday programs.

Agreed. Webke is a very intelligent bloke. Yet he's wasted on this show because he is only allowed to make one statement at a time and comes out as just dull. The three of them together have no chemistry and just come across three 3 random blokes making forced conversation. The show seems to be 2 fifths variety show, 2 fifths sketchy comedy, and 1 fifth footy discussion. Given it's only an hour long it fails because of the weak and disorganised structure. Certainly doesn't help the sketches are completely unfunny.

Again, the segments are too rushed. Overall I still dont find the show funny. I think I only laughed once during the Smarter than a Footballer, with Liam Fultons "My sternum" buzzer. But that was only because of a private joke between a few people. I will watch the show coz its footy related and there is nothing else on the telly, but I wont enjoy it! :lol:

needs more than 1 hour imo ,it just seems to rushed.
i like Jason Stevens ,i think he is funny,
i enjoyed Hadley and i wonder if the likes of blocka and co will return as well,it just might be the lift the show really needs.
i dont know if its just me but i dont find the scetches very funny,except the manchild one,thats a killer.

Stevens interviews add nothing to the show, and should be gotten rid of, imo. Stevens is just too cheesy, christian for my liking and should be replaced by someone with a little more pizaz . Wayne Bennett would do.

I would also prefer to see less of the comedy skits, to be replaced by stand up comedians, novelty acts etc. Carl Baron would be good.

U guys are going to continue to be disappointed if you want either of the Thursday nite shows to be like the Sunday ones.
It has been stated over and over again that these are light entertainment shows, the serious shows are left to Sunday the fun ones are Thursday.
Also keep in mind that Ch7's Matty Johns show cannot show any footage of games because they belong to 9 and Fox. Kind of limits him in that way.

i haven't watched the Johns show yet mainly because as those who have kids and work that 7:30pm is not a time of night except friday and weekends that you really get to sit down and watch tv. I have only watched half a episode of NRL on Fox so far this season which i normally never miss. I think ch7 have muffed it by having it at 7:30pm, 8:30pm would be much better time but they have other shows on that time. really no football related show on at prime time on commercial tv is going to be as good as NRL on fox or the Sunday footy show because the networks won't take the risk that it might not work.

and they would have had to sort permission for the use of such footage... quite limiting still IMO
