The most important thing about this show is its good for the game, so lets support it. Send in constructive criticism etc and help the show succeed. This will be a good kick in the pants for the the Channel 9 Footy Show to improve and together they help the games profile etc etc.

It's just so lazy in kindness and positive attitude to not support any effort that improves exposure of the game to more people.

Regardless of personal $$$$ and fame, it can ONLY do good for this great game but gees, its time the winging dinosaurs of league to take some time out, smell the roses and get a better perspective on life.

And who knows Matty is intelligent enough to evolve new characters that don't rely on the old Matty sex and filth for laughs. I don't enjoy that stuff as it promotes a bad/poor message to children and the community at large. Common Matty, you can do it... you can be terribly embarrassing like Basil Faulty and still provide huge belly aches without the ugly beastiality of male to male sex etc.

I am watching the show now, good old Perth has both The Matty Johns Show and The Footy Show on at the same time so i'm going back and forth between the two. I do agree that TMJS is moving really fast but it's been pretty good thus far.

Seem to have similarities to the ch9 footy, in particular the paying out of stevo which on 9 used to be mario

I didn't mind it, not too much different to the Footy Show except it is on at 7:30, which imo is a much better timeslot, 9:30 is way too late to start a show that goes till after 11 when you have to get up at 6am for work on the Friday........

Some of the comedy sketches fell a bit flat, and they appeared to try and cram too much into the show, but it kept me amused, right to the end, and i will be watching it again, for sure .

How good would it be for Rugby League to have a successful, prime time, TV prog! The show is getting great reviews, so heres hoping.

I thought the Footy Show last night did a better job talking about footy, didn't see too many skits. The one thing the footy show can do which TMJS can't is really go back and review previous games etc because they have no rights to any footage.

But in saying that, I should take the TMJS show as it is which is a light entertainment show, not a sports show.

Best thing was i was at home visiting the parentals, and even Mum enjoyed it. Seems like Matty will cater for a different audience to the Footy Show.

Cameos from the guy from Skippy and Ahn Do were a nice touch too - as well has getting interviews with a few guys that aren't always on TV (Campo, Bobcat, Eric..)


I think this show has alot of potential, can't wait for next week!!

Just watched it this morning (had to tape it). I agree with a lot of the comments. It was a bit rushed, would benefit from a little more chatter. Especially when they were discussing their tips.
There were also a lot of nerves, it'll take them a couple of weeks to find their feet. They need to create their own identity and not think they're still on the footy show. I look forward to seeing the show evolve into a really good show.

If only 7 will actually give it a red hot go and actually give them a while to prove themselves.

I think the problem is that a lot of people won't have an objective view because they either want nothing more than Matt to fall flat on his face or they want nothing more than him to succeed with this.

I don't like him and, like the footy show, I don't plan on watching it because I don't find it that funny, but if it's that bad, the rating will show it. If he gets good ratings, obviously it deserves to stay.

The Don Kirk and Alby Sandals skits were appaling. Eric Grothe looks a funny bloke however. Maybe they should given him the hosts role.
Shane Webke's legend status and profile in the game will deterotiate badly should he continue as "the side kick". Run very fast Shane.
Im all for promoting the game but its not my cup o tea.

People need to remember, it's called the Matty Johns show not a footy show.

Shows like NRL on FOX and NRL Tactics are for the diehard league lovers.

The ch7 and 9 show are a bit of everything and dont want to purely focus on league.

He gets laughs out of interviewing the most geniused people he can find on the streets. He takes advantage of people and he deserved to lose his job at 9.

Liked the interview with big Willy. Would not of been nearly that candid on channel 9. Quite raw, as some of the questions were getting to him a bit. But his response was ok I thought.
