Matty Moylan loses captaincy

Given the old sweep sweep, fixer jazz with Cartwright this is more to put some distance from that as much as taking a stand against this sort of thing. Regardless, well done Penrith. On a side note Griffin must shake his head as what was let go during his time at the Broncs.
Cartwright didn't break any club policies or laws or do anything the club could punish him for.

These guys did. They broke the rules during the season and have been punished. Just as Tyrone Peachey was last year. He came back better for it

Apart from losing the captaincy, word doing the rounds in social media is that he lost his virginity too.
As if Matt Moylan would have any difficulty whatsoever getting his dick wet in the Riff. His problem would be keeping them away.

I have real problems with club rules like these.

If my employer suddenly busted out a breathalyser because they wanted me to work at 100% efficiency and few drinks the night before cuts down on that, I think I could argue a serious breach of civil liberties.

The club doesn't own everything they do.

Work on pilbara construction projects. Full breath teasting every day, 4 miidies a day max, room searches, police sniffer dogs searching camps and airports etc. Not complaining, but thems the rules for my job. If i breach 1 i get sacked immediately, not stood down for a week

Yeah but if Matt Moylan had a few beers after a game, someone doesn't get run over by a front end loader. Apples and... well, not even oranges the comparison is so off. Apples and Chinese acrobats.

I have no problem with them pinging him for turning up to a game or training massively hungover. But I really don't care how much you earn, I have a real problem with policies like this. It's basically saying 'we don't trust you to be responsible so we're taking it completely out of your hands'.

What people seem to be ignoring is that Moylan and co were not on their own time at all. They were on an away trip to Melbourne "for work". As such whilst they are on that trip, they are subject to things like their employer's code of conduct and directions from their employer whilst away on that trip. Conversely if something happened off the field whilst on that trip, they would be covered by worker's comp.

This is just a straight discipline matter. It shows "having a good time" was more important to Moylan and co than their job.

And the players basically said "good thing that because look, not even our skipper is responsible enough to follow a simple rule."

The players were punished for breaking club policy. They are being dropped for a week just as Tyrone Peachey was last year. Hopefully giving them a wake up call.

They broke no laws. Just the rules set by Panthers.

This is a good thing by the Panthers. If they let players break the rules without punishment it sets a bad example. Players will not respect the rules and next time it could be much worse than just drinking until late at night.

BUT would they do it in Grand Final week?

That is taking a hypothetical scenario to the extreme.

Has any player in the past, with the exception of an on-field indiscretion, actually put himself in a compromising position to a point of losing his spot in a GF?

I'm sure in the week leading up to the match, there have been altercations between players at training. But that would be about as serious as a scenario you'll get.

Someone posted how tough it would be having to blow in a bag every day and how it would be an invasion of civil liberties or some shit, i just showed an everyday example. There was no complaints, just a statement, so go suck a fart out of a dead seagull co€$ head.

If players actually went out on the turps in GF week I'd have zero problem dropping them. Any player who isn't 100% committed to the cause at that time of year is going to do more harm than good out on the field in such an important game.

If Easts had the balls to stand down the idiot who was out drinking during grand final week 2004 he wouldn't have been out there getting steamrolled for 250m by Mason and abandoning his winger leaking 2 x Utai tries

For normal people, Just because it's a work trip doesn't mean the employer can control all aspects of your life.

Not everything is covered by workers comp. like that chick who was injured while humping when a light fell on her and tried to claim compo.

But footy is different.

I fully support the decision as it is positive culture building... HOWEVER, as someone previously said, I would be interested to see of Hook did this in the week leading up to an elimination final.
