I should get in on this and sue Liechhardt Council for not watering Birchgrove Oval in 1991.the hard surface played a part in my ruptured ACL and ended my career. Balmain United used to give me 2 tooheys stubbies a game so it should only cost em a couple of cartons in lost earnings.

i thought the john lomax tackle actually saved Ritsons life because had he not been involved in the tackle he never would of had a CT scan on his head which found a life threatening Cist on the brain

Yep it did.

But Ritsons advisors told him to sue.

I agree with Crackers but Kearney had more to do with the tackle than Bai did, I think Bai only got 1 week while Kearney got 12 weeks cause he has hands between his legs or something rather, not exactly sure.

He has a point though, I think he still gets pains from that injury.

McCracken says the tackle was "intentional" and "done with intent to cause injury".

I'm no legal eagle, but I don't know how he's going to prove these two things.

Spear tackles aren't that rare, and it's pretty hard to say that any of them are intentional, let alone with intent to cause injury.

They're aggressive tackles that often go wrong. I don't know if anyone has specifically tried to break someone's neck ever, or to deliberately dumped anyone on their head.

As bad as the tackle was, I couldn't say that it was deliberately intended to cause injury.

McCracken used an elbow on Webcke in 2000 & got off scott free & he said that league was a Tough Hard game and these sort of things happen.

Is webke still playing?

You idiot!

It just proves McCracken is a hypocrite.

He did spear tackles & the players were lucky to continue to play.
So? Drive drunk and get pulled over by an RBT, you lose your license. Drive drunk and kill somebody, you go to gaol. If your actions have more serious consequnces, you should expect more serious penalties. That tackle was a disgrace.

Way to go crackers, open the gates, set a precedent, and single handedly bring Rugby League to it's knees. It happened with public liability, which killed off many, many community events.

The tackle was nasty, but so are many others and he doesnt deserve anything different. Piss off McCracken you f**in traitor.

Theres a nice unbiased summation of the situation.

The tackle was the worst most of us have seen. It ended the bloke's career. Good luck to him I say.

Single handedly bring Rugby League to its knees? That utter crap, and a bit rich coming from a Dogs supporter. McCracken is the one bloke from recent times who has a serious claim to having his career cut significantly short by a horrendous act of foul play. If there are more, they deserve a chance at compensation too. But, thankfully, the cases are rare.

Its already happened in Rugby League. Steve Rogers sued Mark Bugden fo breaking his jaw, Brohman sued Boyd, and Jack sued Roberts. Some, and possibly all of these cases were settled ouit of court.

So now the lawyers are gonna ruin League for us, wonder how teams and the NRL will go getting insurance after this? A tackle goes wrong the club gets sued, the players and if the NRL don't take action that the tackled player wants, they get sued aswell. Next it'll be a completely legal tackle that was done injuring a player.

And why are the storm getting sued? It's not they ordered them to make such tackles.

I don't agree with the Storm being sued, but Kearney and Bai deserve what they get, especially Kearney, who ws the main instigator. Crackers had years robbed from his career because of that act of thuggery.

Exactly. If a tackle, such as this one, DIRECTLY leads to the premature ending of a playing career the victim deserves to be compensated. I don't necessarily agree with other nasty incidents in the league being settled through legal measures but this is perhaps the worst thing I've seen on a football field, and McCracken never played again. He deserves compensation and kearney deserves to pay.
