The seconed of a series of fan based meetings happened last night between aprox 25 interested people and Wayne Scurrah and his marketing man, Richard Howarth.

It amazes me just how interested the Warriors are in our suggestions.

Topics covered were,

Season ticket incentives/priveleges
on field entertainment
utilising the entertainment area in the new east stand
smoking/non smoking policies
the mad butcher plans to release an awen guttenbiel limited ed t shirt
food
early bird season ticket holders sales incentives
car parking
cheer leaders
fan days
costs of tickets for warriors season tix holders if they want to attend a game in aussie.

very positive meeting, very open and no agendas.

every question was answered.

Great to hear that, ozbash. Would have loved to be involved. Is there any chance on this expanding across all of the forums? It might be good to have as many fans represented as possible.

P.S. I heard about your hospital stay. I sent your wife a text wishing you well, though I'm not sure as to whether or not she received it. Are you fighting fit once again?

not likely to ever happen. forum politics and personality clashes make it impossible.

all the best for this group though. if they can get results etc it is better than nothing at all.

lets not go there. it has already left enough bad taste no need to go over it again.

all you need to know is that there is group of warrior fans that are trying to make a difference for all of us. they do read forums such as these and take these ideas to Wayne Scurrah and co

Well that's fortunate. If we'd known there was a meeting, we could have submitted our own suggestions and ideas, even if we weren't invited to be there in person. I'm glad they rad all the forums, but I'm not sure what sort of voice was carried on our behalf, if that makes sense.

Having said that, there's always the next meeting. ;-)

Fair enough. I didn't realise it was initiated by the Warriors, and not the fans. That certainly makes a difference.

Glad to hear you're doing fine again. Ali hasn't changed her number, by any chance, has she? That could explain her not getting the texts. (I sent two.)

That's cool - was there any people from Australia invited to pass comment by the Warriors?

It's frustrating often that we over here have no say in issues. That's not anyone's fault here, it is very evident at times that we're not included in matters of the club. There's quite a few thousand hardcore fans over here, a lot after years and years and years have given up and taken interests in other clubs.

lol, i think there was actually, 1 bloke who seems to spend his life attending AFL,union, league and then NFL in the States.
very interesting bloke who seemed to know all the ins and outs of event hosting.

what a life tho,, i could be seen doing it.

That'd be a nice change.

Because for years we've had nothing.

We had ads over here for "Warriors fan clubs" in 2001-2002, contact was made constantly to the Warriors as they advertised, but never ever was contact returned or any club membership schemes discussed. It was BS.

As I say, there are many people over here who have been long term fans who've simply turned away because we don't get invited to pass comment or get looked after by the Warriors. People complained about the thing at Penrith a few weeks ago, that was the first thing I can remember involving fans over here since I've been over here.... since 2000. There's a load of us over here and we often get no involvement or no say.

If someone can bring that up with Mr Scurrah and Mr Howarth next time out I'd be very happy. I'm not the only Australian based who thinks like this. I work in a yard with about 60 people, a fair percentage Kiwis, many of whom have turned away from the club for all the cr@p thats gone on, and the lack of any support for fans over here.

ok, i thought you guys were actually a bit better off than some of us over here.
free/cheap tix for passport holders, fan days with players in attendance, shopping center visits and open training sessions.

they are very approachable and seem genuinely interested in listening to both positive and not-so positive opinions.

No, definitely credit for that. No arguments there.

But since 2003, what price for us any comment or support or any sort of involvement with the club? Why not even manage the formation of an Australian fan club? Get us involved with subscriptions to Warriors mags, player news from the club via email or SMS, pockets at away games like the Burrow or the Kennell where Warriors fans can be altogether. Little things. After those ticket hand outs, nothing. As I say, the "Run like the wind" Australian fan membership campaign was a fraud.

The only game since then where that's happened (tickets) was Souths this year, and I think that was more for sheer embarrassment of the turn out should that not have happened. Some people over here took that with a grain of salt and a bit of a slap in the face. The reasons were very evident. I personally thought it was a nice touch. But there's got to be more involvement. Somehow. Some way. Even if its something simple through their website. Even if its just club news. Up until this year, where the website has improved dramatically, we had no idea what was happening at the club.

What little group mate.

*********************************************************

Jessbass I visited all the forums I knew, prior to going to the meeting and tabled them. The only one they showed interest in was the "block five", which you already have read

In fact we were all surprized that yourself and Mosh were not present. Maybe Wayne could explain to you why you werent' invited, rather than certain people like AuckMel speculate.

Odd statement there, Trev. If you know why they weren't invited just say so.
