Melbourne Game

Personally I'm happy with how competitive we were. Couple of bad decisions in the last 5 cost us field position but we are a team on the up. How often in the last 2 years have we scored 4 tries let alone against the storm (yes I know we beat them in the gong).

Good post, totally agree......there is a light at the end of that tunnel.

Little off topic:

But if anyone had a punt with sports bet, they are refunding head to head bets for controversial finish.

Why cant the NRL do the same by over ruling the result. If ever there was one game, this is it.

Effort was awesome by the boys, that's why it hurts. Still gutted till now. But we have seen that they can compete with the best. The plus to it was that melbourne were full strength.

Bring on the warriors.

OK so we didn't break that hoodu....................... Can we break Canberra. 2 in 1 year was a bit much to ask.

It really was Canberra all over again

Melbourne had 400 more ran meters in the game despite having the same amount of sets.

Once we sort that out were a threat...
This has been the issue for 2014, were not keeping up with the flow of games, always retreating.. yet were still being competitive and scoring points.. I dont know how were doing that frankly.

Just wondering if fitness is an issue? We seem to struggle at the back ends of games, we were actually lucky not to lose to the Sharks when they were coming back at us. Our opposition are full of running, whilst we are back pedalling.

We really need to look at our slow moving forwards. Hunt in particular looks like he's running in concrete.

The game against Melbourne was a lil different as we had 2 players out of the game due to injury and we finished the last 25 secs with 12 men. As you rightly point out though this has been going on since the sharks game, mostly the cause is poor discipline due to being penalized in the ruck and I do believe refs target us and some other lessor lights more so than the favoured teams so it's very difficult to slow the play down and get our defensive line set. There are also other issues in that we rarely have a consistent set in defence, there is always 1 or 2 missed tackles or offloads while we have 3 in the tackle and they are killing us and the snowballing effect has us back peddling and copping a 60mtr or more set on a regular basis. I also think that 1st contact needs to be better and stop momentum and second contact needs to push them backwards. All of this will wear us down or any team so I don't believe we are less fit just chewing extra juice. Hunt improved against Melb but has been so far off the pace this year he should not be in the 17, Au Mau has also gone off the boil a bit. I think if we have our best pack on the field and bench with the right attitude we can match other teams and it's time for Price to have a chat with Robert Finch about why other teams aren't getting penalized at the same rate we are for slowing the game down. Any team copping 5 or 6 straight penalties a week is a joke especially when it is every week

Cause once you get a reputation for laying there too long (Capt Creagh), you become fair game. Just like those who get away with stuff because of who they are. Perception is reality (not) :(

Have a look at Harrison defensively on the last play.
Should never see anything other than a Cutters jumper tbh

Harrison has been struggling big time.
If we didnt have JBD / Friz out, he wouldn't have been there Commissioner.

Shame, he was once a pretty powerful player...

cant really compare the two, for sportsbet its a small price to pay to get their brand out there plus people bet again and lose so they will profit anyway..they also paid out early on us as premiers in 2011 when we were way ahead

I remember him giving it to us one chilly night in Cantberra

Yeah, he was also awesome during the Tigers period. They didn't have the biggest pack, but they played above their weights.
Seems like a real nice fella too, but cant see him holding a spot, without injury / suspension at the minute.
