Storm averaging 23,000 a game? Haha, thats funny

Of course the Victory were required for the stadium to go ahead, what would the point of building a new stadium just for the Storm and their few fans?

would you rather the Storm play out of a 34,000 stadium, or a 20,000 stadium?

Purely from a Storm perspective personally i'd have rathered the 20K seats with the option to be able to upgrade it to 25K which was originally planned. Or even better the 27,500 or so it was going to be (which i thought was the perfect number) had the Victory not signed on.

It's all well and good to have it at the proposed 31K but as much as i can see Storm's crowds growing, i can't see us getting that many very often except for maybe finals. To me bigger isn't always better but that's just my opinion.

Despite you having posted your displeasure with the MVFC in the previous five or so posts, (no one cares btw), would you rather the Storm play out of a 34,000 stadium, or a 20,000 stadium?

The ground is going to be far more better for all sports because of the Victory holding out on it.

I don't care if "no one cares". It's a forum for me to express my displeasure and make fun of people anonymously and if I choose to repeat it then I will. Victory did not "hold out" for anything. They walked into town and after 2 years of moderate success decided that they would try and dictate the eventual capacity of the stadium. Jeff Lord claimed it should be bigger because Victory get (or at least used to get) 40K crowds. Brian Waldron suggested the Victory stay at Telstra Dome. The then CEO of the Demons who were meant to be tenants said "Melbourne Demons 150 years. Melbourne Storm 10 years. Melbourne Victory 5 minutes".

But in answer to your question; hopefully our crowds get better over the years to the point where we are getting, say, 15,000 averages. I just don't want us to look silly by playing out of a half empty stadium. Of course we need to promote our product more with reasonable broadcast times ete. If the stadium was 24,000 like it was meant to be we'd a) have been playing out of it this year and b) the stadium would have looked "fuller".

Rugby league in Melbourne is still considered a joke by the majority of people. If playing out of a 35K stadium with only 12 or 13 thousand in attendance is going to get us laughed at then I'm not for it. I'd rather keep playing out of OP which is 18K.

Even if Melbourne's averages don't rise significantly with the new stadium (they will rise, but by how much?) then why not go hell-for-leather with the Kids 2 Kangaroos and give 100 free tickets to every school they visit?

Not such a bad idea actually.

As I understand there's a whole other thread that's been going since construction began, this one only appeared because BF was too lazy to use the search feature.
