What about an Interstae membership package that secures a seat for my local game, I am in Brisbane now, was a season ticket holder for 15 years before moving, the very least would be a ticket to either the broncs or titans, or both.
perhaps an option for what you as a member would like to purchase.
I need a new guersey but would like to get one from the club so all profits go to us, so maybe a checklist, or design a membership, couldnt be hard, would be online with tick boxes, submit and presto a price for your designer membership.

Just a fan fact for you all, this new jersey was designed and authorised BEFORE the new board came in so all criticism/admiration should be directed at the previous administration.

Doesnt mean they have to go through with it does it.

personally I like it, but I have lived in Brisbane for 6 years now and the brain is not what it used to be

As for the jersey, I'm just bummed they didn't pick up the heritage jersey. Like sitting on a gold mine and moving on without digging. Ugh!

Spoke to the club yesterday and was told that, at this stage, Caldwell are only locked in to sponsor the "Member Jersey".

Translation: I'm pretty sure that'll be it.

Are you telling us that from the info you have been given that Caldwell is only a one game sponsor?

Or is it that they are only on the front of the jersey for one game?

Yup, from the info I was given, Caldwell is (at this stage) only locked in to that one-game, one-jersey deal. The club told me it could be the case that Caldwell signs on as the major sponsor between now and January but at this stage they are only sponsoring the Member's Jersey.

Didn't make sense to me. How many other sponsor's would really be happy with sharing "jersey duty" with another company, particularly on opening night?

I definitely felt that there was an element of "political correctness" from the club during our conversation. Like they knew that Caldwell was going to be the major sponsor, but they didn't want to confirm or deny it, meaning one of two things:

1. They haven't completely ironed out the terms and conditions of the deal.

2. They are holding out for a better offer in the next eight weeks.

Likely to be the first, as the board were desperate to lock up all sponsorships before Christmas.

Frenzy.

OK so the reality is this.

All the plaudits for securing a sponsor are premature as all that has been secured so far is a jersey sponsor for 1 game.

As aforementioned, I think I was being lied to. The interesting thing was that initially I only inquired about the release date of the new jersey, and I was told that it was going to be in January-February. When I asked if the jersey was going to be the same as the one in the Membership Brochure, I was told it wasn't. Which is what led to that conversation and Caldwell only being "officially" locked up for the members jersey.

From the tone of the conversation, I'd be willing to bet Caldwell are the new major sponsor. But I couldn't find any reference to the Sharks on their website(s) - http://www.cbcac.com.au/cronulla/ or http://www.coldwellbankeraustralia.com.au/

All too crazy.

Hang on, Coldwell signed on to be the back of jersey sponsor for 2010. See below. Maybe thay are still negotiating with them to upgrade to become the new major sponsor. I think this whole one game deal thing you are talking about is just to be the front of jersery sponsor for one game for the members promotion because we currently do not have one. Its not a one game sponsorship on total.

Sharks announce new corporate partner

Thursday, 27 August 2009
Bucking the negative trend in what are difficult financial times the Sharks have been able to secure a new major corporate supporter for 2010 with the announcement that international real estate brandColdwell Banker will become the top-of-back jersey sponsor for the Sharks next season.
The significant announcement is a continuation of the positive moves being made off the field for the Cronulla Sharks of late, with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Australia committing to the 2010 seasond
with an option to continue the partnership through to 2012.
Sharks Chairman Damian Irvine was pleased to be able to confirm the new sponsorship arrangement.
“This major signing demonstrates we are in good company for the years ahead,”
Mr Irvine said. “From this sponsorship we are confident in consolidating many of our loyal sponsors and vigorously pursuing a membership drive that will give us a great base to work from in 2010.”
The announcement with an internationally reputable organisation such as Coldwell Banker Australia confirms the value of the Sharks brand as a corporate entity as the club enters a new era.
In addition to the appointments of Chairman Damian Irvine and CEO Richard Fisk in recent times the club has also brought highly credentialed businesswomen Denise Aldous and Jenny Reynolds onto the board of directors, with the Coldwell Banker sponsorship a further endorsement of the progress being made at the club.
Coldwell Banker is one of the world’s leading brands for the sale of million dollar-plus homes through its PREVIEWS program, with approximately 3,700 franchise offices in US, Canada, Australia, Europe, Asia. Found in 51 other countries throughout the globe, Coldwell Banker also boasts some 22 ‘boutique offices’ on the east coast of Australia in the heartland of rugby league.
“With real estate offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns ,the Gold Coast and Melbourne, as well as in Perth, it was instinctive of our business to associate ourselves with a national sporting sponsorship at some stage of our development and rugby league at the elite level made good business sense,” Alex Caraco, CEO of Coldwell Banker Australia said.
“Having two of our offices (Coldwell Banker Cripps and Cripps) within the Sutherland Shire and knowing the Sharks have already made significant moves to protect and revitalise the brand for its members, supporters and sponsors, this partnership is good timing for all partners.”
Although the contract terms are confidential, both the Sharks and Coldwell Banker Australia are happy to confirm the sponsorship package is well over six-figures for the 2010 NRL season.

You're on the mark Samshark. As the club has not secured a major sponsor as yet, they will promote Coldwell to the front of jersey for the interim. Lets all pray for the sake of finacial viability that we DONT see them on the front of jersey come next season.

How long has the club been aware that LG would not be a major in 2010? Is the Sharks brand that tarnished? What are all these new members of the marketing team doing? Aside from pissing of current season seat holders

Because that would mean the club has secured a major sponsor which would occupy the front of jersey, and Coldwell remian where they paid for, being back of jersey. More cash for the club.

It's to save face and lessen the embarrassment of having no one wanting to invest in the brand. Sad, but true.

Whilst the message of your post is true, your tone however, is obtuse.
Standard marketing nouse, embraces the value of critical mass. People dont go to empty cafes. People dont invest in start ups.
There is safety in numbers. This is good work by the club to turn around the basket case we were less than 12 months ago.
