I've been extremely supportive of all you've done at the club and the team has performed well thus far this year, but........................

We need a least one playmaker that has something resembling a kicking game.

Kidley and Bailey are embarassing in their ineptitude. The last of the 1st half roosters tries is illustrative of that.

35m out on the 5th, Baileys puts up a bomb that goes backwards, Roosters get the ball and 5 tackles later they score of a well placed kick.

The only difference between the teams is that they CAN kick and we couldn't kick a cat!!.

Plus I will add, the ref is only watching one team, the Roosters are doing exactly what we are in the rucks and play the balls, but not getting pinged for it.

Only piece of good news, Smithy looks like hes blowing up in the sheds.

Let's just hope Smith learns from his experiment with Gidley at half.

Also, Roosters first try I think, where the bomb went up for Vuna and he dropped it..

If they passed the ball the Roosters, they would have scored, it was MacDougall, then Vuna had 30 metres to cover all himself, what a joke.

Smithy is copying off Brownie , deserves newcastle right, always watching and following what the dragons do

This f**king sucks. ABC stops broadcast at halftime to go to a game that's being televised on Channel 9 and both links on the NRL Live Scoreboard are for the Tigers game! :fist:

I get to sit around at home in front of the computer watching live updates. NRL coverage is a f**king joke.

Man, Brian Smith loves his footy. Hopefully, he finally gets some credit from his critics. He has got the guys he wants, and they are putting in.

Every person he has sacked has been proven to be correct decision.

I think they did fine tbh. 34 points scored is the most we've scored this year ....

How often have you seen a club prevail over one of the competition frontrunners with their first choice 6,7 and 13 all unavailable? Did you seriously expect the Knight's kicking game to be the strong point with the chosen line-up? You don't think Smith considered playing Walsh? So the kicking game might have improved marginally (he's kicking game wasn't so crash hot last year anyway) and we would have suffered in defence and other areas and yeah we might have won anyway and we might have also had 50 put on us. You cop injuries in key positions, you compromise. No one has a crystal ball; and sometimes none of the options will work. But the coaching staff are there to make the best possible choices in adversity and I'm happy to leave the call up to the professionals. Well done Brian Smith and co..

Couple of late arsey tries in that though.

Not to mention Royal's try which he actually dropped.
In all fairness RE: Royal's try JM - last year it would have been a knock on, but they changed the rule in the off season saying that you don't have to have control of the ball, just have a finger on it, which is exactly what he did

I'll have to have a look at that again, taking the new laws into account

Yup, and they've been pretty consistent in awarding those all year.

I am so happy to come away with points from this game. We really needed to win this game and we did even if the style of the win was a bit poor. Frankly we've had a few really good losses so I loved getting a soft win.

I will give this to Smith though - 10 points for the dummy half running game plan, our backs worked their arses off in the first part of the 2nd half. The actual 'attack' part of our attack was nonexistent though really...we practically played a backline of ball runners with Naiqama as fullback for most of the 2nd half, and some fool trying to kick the ball half the time!

But given Smithys plan came off big time, we made oodles of metres and the Roosters ran out of gas as we all saw, I guess all we had to do in the end was put in a few good passes and for Kidley to play to Bails running at gaps (which I've always thought was one of his strengths) and there you go. Still have no idea how we got 34 points on the board but I guess all we had to do at the end was hold onto the ball to get points!

We did get kick happy in some plays.I still dont see what is wrong with hands onto a player running at full steam and an offload. But the dummy half stuff was superb. We still havent quite clicked it all together butn when we do and we can get a roll on from this game then we are going to be awesome.

One other thing I'll add - is that dummy half game plan is certainly one to keep up our sleeve should we need it later in the season. Kidley made 105m from halfback today  Bailey made 92 from 5/8th as well!
