AFL football isn't only a part of life, it is also a reflection of life insomuch as Billy Joel would say - "Every year's a souvenir that slowly fades away..."

And on this theme, we find another year drawing to a close and I'll take with me some good memories of the facts, fun, facetiousness and feistiness that, in non-equal parts, constituted the AFL forum throughout 2006.

As moderator (easiest gig in town this, little wonder I'm not getting paid for it), I wanted to take a few minutes out of my last day at work (hey, you don't expect me to get all mushy and reflective on my own time, do ya?!) to pay tribute to YOU the forum members for keeping the place active this season!

Special thanks, as always, to the core group of CHEERS type regulars that I can rely on to be in here propping-up the bar - Meltiger, Twizzle, Locky, Camsmith, Chileman, Cupid, AuckMel, Collingwood Storm & GoTheBears.

I hope that you all get merry with it over the festive season and fatten yourselves up to a point where you have ample physical reserves to viably underscore the taxing verbal crapfest that will be the AFL Forum 2007.

So its my pleasant duty to sign off this post NOT by telling yas to give yourselves an uppercut, but rather a well-earned pat on the rear (that would be the back, and not the butt for those of you who are easily confused AND misled)...

Good stuff, lads, and God bless us everyone (even, for a short time only, the Bomber tragics)! :b:

Haha.

I'll drink to that, Craig...

Although it may not be anything harder than Horlicks, given that I'm a grumpy 'old man' and all.

Do what you do do well, young man and enjoy it while you're doing it.

Hopefully the fat man brings you what you asked for...

Hopefully Santa does as well :p ...

Although you'd surely have a permanent reservation on the naughty list...

All the best guys, and thanks Kev for keeping the forums running. Well done.

You're welcome, Lockmeister.

Thanks for your frequent contributions.

Our views may align on about 1 in 10 occasions, but you do liven up the forum.

Keep safe over the XMAS break.

But good on you Kev, keep up the good work.

That's normally my sentiment too, Angry Man, but it's healthy to break from character every now and then.

Hopefully Mrs Angry gives you what you want for Chrissy; and no I'm not being sexually suggestive with that comment...

Unless that's what you do want for Chrissy, of course. ;-)

Well, I suspect that I have earnt such a nickname (and similar others) over the years, but I'm confident that I'm nothing like Ol Crapsack, even though I wouldn't know him from toffee.

I don't concur with your sentiments on the Bombers, but I admire your passion nevertheless. You're always a good contributer here.

Take it easy and have good times over the yuletide...

Merry Christmas CK and gang

Next year we've got a whole new AFL Website and dedicated AFL forum to discuss our game.

I am looking forward to building up the site with all your involvement.

When will the new site be going live?

I suspect you'd have all your spots filled by now, but if you still need a moderator for your Hawk sub-fora then I'd be happy to help out.

There are a good few potential posters (not all Hawks) that I'd like to approach about the site, but I'm waiting til it goes live.

I still think it will signal the death knell for this forum, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing, as its potentially good progress. Old timers like Craig & Cupid would know this, given that we originally moved from LWOS a few years back anyway.

I guess you'll be aiming for a BigFooty type setup, but hopefully with a smaller knobhead quota...

That would be reliant on Pav4AA not making an appearance :thumn

:thumn :thumn :thumn :thumn

lol

Although I'm not to sure how successful individual club forums will make it initially until the website itself builds up a readerbase and in turn the flow on for the forum. With a beginning base of maybe 20 people - Wouldn't we be better off in 1 forum to start?

HotDogs would singlehandedly drop the overall site IQ through the floor and deep into previously unplumbed depths.

He makes Pav4AA look like the Stephen Hawking of the football posting set.

I don't know, Craig.

If 16 of the 20 follow differing clubs it'll all be good.

Cammers could be your groupie in the Tigers forum; and Collingwood Storm could be AuckMel's in the Collingwood forum...

I'm a bit concerned about letting Locky & GoTheBears loose in the Bomber forum though. That'd be very much like the blind leading the stop it or you'll go blind, methinks.

I'll be a bit lonely, most likely, but the time will zip by while I'm trolling myself at Hawk central.

Will I be allowed to challenge and question all propaganda  posted in the Bombers forum?

No i did not say troll the Bombers forum :D

We want it to be a professional looking site, as such we are being a bit fussy on what we produce.

I expect it to be up and running prior to the preseason competition starting.

I also expect it to be a repalcement for this sub forum, but is will be more comprehensive and it will alow us to do a bit of experimenting on linking external forums to this one, if thats possible.

We want to make it user friendly, unlike bigwhatsitsname, so when you log into LU and click on the AFL forum, you hopefully will be transferred, without having to log out and in again, although that may not happen initially.

Anyone who wants to help will be welcome and if you can tell your friends that will be even more appreciated.

The site will be what ever we make of it, and if trolls and knobs are a concern, then they will be dealt with as they are here at LU.

We have a way of dealing with trolls where they will not disrupt the team forums.

We will be working on it over the summer break and you will all be the frirst ones to know about it when its ready.

I know I don't post much, but I'm willing to help if I can. I'm pretty busy with my local club, but I'm sure I could help somewhere.
