Me too - seemed to be at least two Penrith sleepers in the defensive line.

BTW I can't believe Penrith are in contention for the wooden spoon. I saw them beat Brisbane earlier this year. Then they seemed to have a nice mixture of promising young players & some experienced hard heads.

This likely wooden spoon is harder to accept than 2001. In 2001 we were pretty pathetic all season, often getting thrashed and conceding 40 points + on something like 11 occasions. This year we've been competitive in most games we've played but we've always had enough underperforming players in the team - Big T *cough*, Wallace *cough* - to let us down with a bad spill, poor kick or poor missed tackle. That and the fact we have chronically been lazy in getting off the tackle player and are the most penalised team in the comp ....

But about Michael Jennings he's been one of the few positives for the club this season. Up there with the top tryscorers in the NRL, his try against the Cowboys was very exciting I can't believe we blew the game from there :(

His defence has improved greatly this year. He is making more tackles, and not missing that much. Last night he made 25 and missed 3.

That is a hell of a lot of tackles for a centre to make.

Most only make half that in a game.

Has he said anything about representing Tonga in the 2008 World Cup?

However,if he continues the way he is going he is an outside chance to make the Australian squad at the end of next year.

Yeah i have and he said he dosent know, to be honest i think he's quitely confident he can crack an Aussie Spot, Origin azwell.

The guy is a future superstar, Just needs to work a bit on his defence. Tonga will have a gun side for the world cup next year.

NZ will pillage the best talent from the Tongan side

NSW can do with some new blood in the centres.

Know him personally, yes he is very humble. And about that Grin, runs in the family, his brothers play in my team and they smile the whole time they play.
Best young centre in the game imo trying not to be biased but yeah if he does decide to play for Tonga they'll be awesome.

I've spoken to him a few times, and just like Jarrod Sammut, he's a very down to earth and friendly guy.

They are both a credit to their families, they obviously both have been raised by great parents, and I would assume that the lower grade coaches have also played their part in keeping these young guys feet firmly on the ground.

I seriously think he is mounting a huge challenge to Isreal Falou for Rookie of the Year now. A month ago Falou seemed to have it in the bag, but now Jennings is coming home very strongly.

He just gets better and better.

He has come under some criticism for his defence, but in his defence (excuse the pun) he is a great one on one defender and plays well above his weight. As his positional play improves, with experience, I don't see his defence being a problem at all.

He is a dead set cloan of Renouf. Pace, acceleration, step, strength. I'm glad he's signed up for a few years!

Since he was about 16, ive thought the way he plays is very Renouf like. Glad to see some other people picking up on it. He is signed till the end of 09', not long enough IMO.

3.Michael Jennings
4.Greg Waddell

I cant wait for that centre combination!

Having said that Maurice Blair is going great guns also.

This guy is a freak. NSW would be crazy not to throw Michael Jennings into the centres with Jarryd Hayne on the wing outside him.

The best part is, Jennings just keeps on improving. He has played in an awful team and still looked threatening. Just a pity Daniela wasn't playing beside him today. He deserved the jersey ahead of O'Halloran.

Because Elliott seems to have an obsession with Mark O'Hallaron.

However, i think it may be to qualify Daniela for the Premier League semi finals. If thats the case, well done Elliott.

He and Jennings missed a few tackles last week and Daniela got punted. For friggen Mark O'Halloran.

He might be a liability in defence from time to time, but his attack more then compensates for it.

i think Daniela got dropped because he is still eligible for the PL finals series, and panthers are going alright in that. If Daniela had of played any more first grade he wouldn't be eligible or something.

thats what i heard.

Panthers supporters were talking this guy up last year as a future star, and he definitely has made his mark so far in his first grade career. As fibro man said, he just keeps getting better. He's scored 7 tries in the last 3 matches - 2 doubles and a hatrick... phenomonal strike rate. He just has that awareness to be in the right place at the right time, and once he's in open space, that's it, TRY TIME!

He will be up there in the Rookie of the Year nominations.

As for Daniela, I too subscribe to the theory that the club wants him to play in the PL finals series. Fair enough, but those two form quite a lethal combination.

It's great to hear that Jennings has a great attitude and is very much down to earth. It's guys like him, Chris Lawence and Folau that i have a lot of time for.
