What the man said needed to be said and he was correct on all counts , just as were the departing comments of Brian Smith - “ this place has the same smell that Newtown had about it “ - sorry to have to bring that line out again - its like a retread that keeps on going around and around , ever so similar to the inadequacies of the joint venture board , instead of progressing into the 21st century they keep regressing back to the bluudy Stone Age !

Who cares who has more right? He spoke the truth and in doing so validated all the times the fans have said it. I find his candour much more respectful to the fans than someone like (the rightfully revered club legend for eternity) Matt Cooper when he is constantly praising his mate McGregor
I am not disagreeing with the state of affairs.
I don't understand why Copper's home truths are not upheld by the media.
Why is it up to an outgoing player to expose the dirt on the club?
McGregor gets a free ride in the media and so does the club.
If Matt Cooper is praising career coach McGregor it's because he is on the payroll.

True that but it's the principle considering he is a professional sportsman.
Principal you say?
Where is the f**king principal by having Mc Fookknuckle as the longest serving coach of all time?
Where is the principal in BOD handing the keys over to all their mates who love wiping the gravy off their chins?
Where is the principal in watching our youth be treated like shit and be hamstrung by coaching and pathway methods that are beyond comprehension?
Where is the principal that sees us buying old and busted players to have long and fulfilling $$$ careers at our club?
Where is the principal in treating our fans with total arrogance and disrespect?
Thank god for the likes of Cooper & Co and about time the whistle blowers got some protection around this place.

The first line is commentary.

The quote from Cooper, is quite mild. Suggesting new ideas and that employing people from within isn't always the way to go. He goes on to say, even so, they all want to club to succeed / proceed.

Its a one liner that everyone who has played at the club knows.

His view, to get back to our glory days as reflected in the commentary, is that changes may be needed.
How right he was. I didn't find it offensive at all.

Page 1 of this thread has the whole article. Quoted AFTER he left..

"“But from an outsider’s point of view now having left, I think they need a good freshen-up.”

Cooper admits he felt the simmering pressure to replicate the Red V’s past achievements.

You know for a fact that I support all your points regarding the club.
My comments regarding Cooper are a separate issue.

The writing was on the wall when Johnston moved from Chairman of the Board to CEO and Doust who was suppose to retire, still is CEO of St George Leagues Club. The fact that the Taj was once the most prestigious leagues club in rugby league is now well overdue for major renovations is testimony to Doust's performance in that role over the years.

Johnston was the JV’s original CEO, and only moved aside due to poor health.

Agreed, especially when you consider that on current trends it will probably take another 20 plus years to win another bloody one.
Jimmy , the way its going the St george part might be gone all together if it takes another 10 years to get back on top . Already wasting 8 years with the coach we have ....

Agreed it's not by sheer luck the storm,
Roarters and Souths of recent times
are always challenging for premiership.

Dragons management need their mind set and business ethics. Whatever that may be, otherwise we will simply sink.

It is a pity that more players and officials who have left SGI have not come forward and given their view. It will only be when the media and SGI fans hear it from a variety of people that the momentum for change will begin.

Players casting aspersions on the club they just played at are stupid and lack class.
Mike Cooper came to us with a lot of hype spelling out how he wanted to go to the next level and so on.
I for one believed him in the beginning but history will show that he made little impact during his time in Australia.
Watching him play in the ESL these days and he's a bog average middle forward and has probably gone backwards since his Aussie sojourn.

Nah, there wasn't much hype at all. He had no expectations at all and was surprisingly good. Went back at the right time and don't really care what he did after he left.
