Mike Patton mocks Wolfmother

I'm sure he has tonnes of other stuff out there but to me, as I said in my original post, he's nothing special.

You might like a couple of things he did with Sepultura. There's also Fantômas, with Dave Lombardo on drums (there is a lot of metal in their sound, a lot of really wacky sh*t too though).

His stuff is just like any music (any art form really), not everyone will enjoy it.

Is he honestly bagging out a band for ripping off music from the 70s while discussing his own ripping off of italian 60s folk music?

Wolfmother are boring, but nowhere near as boring as "i'm just so f**king talented, lets see how many music genres and names I can drop in 60 seconds" type wankers

Patton is one of the most talented modern day musicians there is. The thing most respectable is that he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him or his music, he does everything he does for the love of it. He's incredibly versatile. I'm far from a fan of all of his projects, I am however a huge fan of FNM and Tomahawk, but I respect him big time for doing all the other stuff he does, he's one musician who has never sold out at any point in his career, not too many can say that.

In saying that, even his more famous projects aren't everyone's cup of tea and I'm sure he wouldn't have it any other way. He's a prolific song writer, he'd be one of the busiest guys in the industry from doing scores for movies/video games and the 10 odd concurrent projects he has going at any one time.

Wolfmother are generic garbage, the video is a few years old now. I love how the title of the video claims he's jealous... Being in a successful band like Faith No More must really burn him to the core

Wolfmother are hands down the worst band I've ever witnessed live, luckily AC/DC who stepped onstage after them redeemed the night.

Patton has made a habit of taking the piss out of other bands, one of his greatest pieces of work can be seen below, it'd be alot better if there was a good quality recording going around

Please... Mike Patton is one of the most talent musicians in the last 50 years.

As for Wolfmother... They are horrible. Influences are fine, but Wolfmother are genuinely ripping of Zepplin. When you are influenced by a banned you don't copy them - see Metallica influenced by Diamond Head, Iron Maiden, and Queen for examples.

Fair enough.

Talented yes, relevant... no.

Epic was 20 years ago.

You aren't a terribly clever music snob then.

Wolfmother don't even sound a great deal like Led Zeppelin, thus you are parrotting other peoples hate.

They do sound like Sabbath, they sound like Deep Purple but most of all they sound like Blue Cheer. It surprises me self proclaimed music elites never add in Deep Purple or Blue Cheer (especially Blue Cheer) when people hear 'Woman', 'Mind's Eye' or 'Joker and the Thief' and think they're listening to 'Stairway to heaven' or 'Kashmir'.

In fact it's hard to think of anything after LZIII that Wolfmother really resemble.

Then of you're back onto the first 3 Led Zep albums, well for your power chord and minor pentatonic/blues scale riffage, everyone copies it.

LOL. Wow. How ballsy.
And this "I don't care what people think" attitude, sounds like a tosser.

Maybe the reason I hate Wolfmother so much is because of their talentless frontman.

As for Patton...eh.

Man, Couldn't of said it better, Most people would be looking at that going Uh ok!!

I think wolfmother are prefectly fine, saw them at AcDc and though they were a good live show, nothing ground breaking or stupidly entertaining but they were good!

"Talented" is still a very subjective thing. You think he's great so therefore he is "one of the most talented modern day musicians there is". Here's a tip, there are plenty of talented people out there who you don't know.

I couldn't give a flying %$*& about him and his music, and if I list my favourite bands you'd probably say the same, and so it goes...

Of course it's all subjective, the sheer scope and range of all the projects he undertakes suggest that he's pretty damn talented. Sure some are hit and miss, but there are very few musicians going around these days that have performed in the range of genres he has. I don't think there are too many musicians that perform for a heavy metal band and an italian orchestra simultaneously. Even if you don't think he's talented, it's pretty hard to disagree that he's one of the most adventurous and experimental musicians of modern times.

Faith No More and Anthrax were pioneers of the rap-metal genre that saw bands like Rage Against the Machine emerge. Patton's work has been influential in shaping some of the alternative, progressive and metal genres. Even if you don't like what he's done, you may like some of the bands that his work paved the way for.

I don't enjoy quite alot of music, but I can still recognise a talented musician even if I'm not a fan of what they produce. Wolfmother don't fall into that category.

Mike Patton's versatility and musical ability that he has shown in numerous bands over the past 20 years is why we see him as talented, not a few songs he did when he first started in Faith No More (songs he didn't even write).

I can't understand how anyone can hear his voice and say he doesn't have talent; he can sing anything from opera to death metal, and everything in between.

So can Mikael Akefeldt and Devin Townsend, but round these here parts those names are forbidden...

The problem with trying to make music for 200 different genres is that a lot of it turns out to be awful. I do like Dillinger Escape Plan though.

hes not the only person who thinks wolfmother suck hes just ballsy enough to say it to an audience

Takes a lot of balls to say someone sucks to a couple of kids with a video camera 200 meters away from where a band completely unaware of your presence are playing.
