f**k, how long does it take these guys to write an album? Deep Purple wrote AND recorded Machine Head in 17 days. That's how long it takes Lars to find the stage door!

reading up on it, its sounding good. Some articles say its got a bit of a MOP feel to it, relating one of the songs as "similar to battery." I'm licking my lips if that is true.

Metal legends seem to have unveiled name online

Metallica have cryptically unveiled what is likely to be their new album title on their Metallica.com.

The band gradually revealed the title 'Death Magnetic' in posts, beginning on June 9, when only the letters 'DC' were shown.

You can download 'Death Magnetic' wallpapers from the group’s site.

The album, produced by Rick Rubin, is the follow-up to 2003’s 'St Anger' and is set to be released in September.

Before then, Metallica will headline Reading And Leeds Festivals, on August 24 and 22, respectively.

Having Rick Rubin at helm means that this might be the long awaited return to form fans have been waiting for from Metallica.
If it turns out to be more overhyped crap though I doubt I'll trust them again.

They've always played kick ass concerts though so even if the album sucks, I'll probably still end up at the concert.

Actually to me it sounds very much like modern day metallica......trying there best to go back but never quite getting there.

I really dont think that millionaire sober old men can recreate the natural inspiration of drunken young metal freaks!

But as has been said, lucky they still do a kickass live show, they havent lost that.

I agree that St Anger wasnt ever given a chance to be good when Bob Rock said "let's record it so that it sounds if it's being played through my balls". Bob Rock killed Metallica, hope he never enters recording studio again.

Rick Rubin's done a few Slayer albums and SOAD albums so I'm looking forward to see what he does with 'tallica.

For you collector types out there we just had to put together something next level when the new record comes out in the Fall . . .

How about "Death Magnetic" in a coffin box? The special edition box will come out the same day the album does.

(we'll tell you when that is soon . . .very soon) and will of course include the full CD (duh!), along with everything next level cool relating to "Death Magnetic!" Seriously, there will be a CD with the demos of the songs, a DVD of even more "making of the album" footage not seen on Mission: Metallica, a t-shirt only available in this box, a flag, guitar picks, and a fold out poster along with a collector's credit card embossed with a code to redeem a free download of a special European show happening in September (yes, details coming soon!).

We're in the process of wrapping up the artwork now, so we'll be sure to have some things to show soon. The coffin box will only be available through Metallica.commhtml:{ED09B22D-CDAF-4A71-A463-5A0C048F141B}mid://00000206/!x-usc:http://www.metallica.com/, Metclub.com, and MissionMetallica.com and we'll keep you posted here as to when that will be (soon!) . . . not all countries will be available at the same time, so keep watching.
