Mitch Rein - the difference between a W or a L

Rein needs to get his confidence back with the Cutters....for his sake if nothing else.
King should be starting with Fein on the bench as his backup...for both their sakes. Fein doesn't deserve to be in a position he is not up to but still has something to give in the same role he played in 2010. King just seems to get the forwards playing better and consistent starting should help his confidence. Either Quinlan or Drinkwater brought into the halves to partner Soward. Vidot out, just not that good and makes us all nervous with his mistakes.

Our worst dead wood, Vidot, Stanley ( not NRL standard at all) Fien, too old, I can only comment on the backs as a former centre and fullback.......

I have no problem at all with Rein, I think he's a great little player. He hasn't played his best for a couple of weeks but neither has anyone else ( except DeBelin, best player on the park tonight ) and as for forward passes, it's almost part of the game this year with a very flat attack being in vogue, I've seen dozens from a lot of different players including a very lazy effort from King last week.
Rein wasn't the reason we lost tonight not by a long shot. We have problems all over the park and it starts with how we are being coached. All this one out running, no passes, no angle runs, far less decoys than we used to use and people getting the ball and running sideways with no-one calling for the ball, it's very poor. How we only lost by two points is beyond me.
Rein throws a forward pass, dogs scored off the next set. He knocked on, they scored off the next set. Contributed directly to 10 point against us. We lost by 2. He was killing them last year but has been pretty ordinary for most of this season. He is a great little player but you have to face the facts that his poor form is killing us along with no centres and two terrible halves and a forward pack lacking punch. Everything was in slow motion last night. It seemed to me they were concentrating on just completing ordinary sets of six.

I think this game should help clarify the 17 going forward. Nathan Fien has setup the majority of linebreaks and also has the most try assists of anyone in the team, we can't drop a player that creates the majority of our opportunities

He should be used as the bench utility providing that spark needed with the second unit. Drinkwater has been playing well enough in the cutters to deserve a callup. Rein's form warrants a starting spot in the Cutters... hopefully Price makes the tough decision or the Dragons may have to make the decision on his career.

I just dont get why King doesnt get more minutes though, its like Price picks a player at the start of the year and refuses to change his stance.

He seems to have his favorites, Rein. Fien and Dan Hunt come to mind. Some will disagree but IMO Dan Hunt is a bench forward at best and more of a depth player, he doesn't have the size often man handled or the perhaps the strength and power since Matt Scott is around the same size but much more effective.

Probably using a Bennett philosophy by backing players to the hilt and getting themto play for him but there is a time when change is needed and fast. When Price makes changes they are often very perplexing he replaces or chooses the wrong players.

Kings fitness is still a bit low, but if he persists with Rein starting for much longer it will be a travesty.

Should never have been re-signed. Astonishing that we have hookers everywhere and we locked up the least talented on a long term deal. He should be dropped on that performance last night.

All true, was a Rein fan at start of year, with my doubts on King, but after finally watching King play a few games, he seems more organized, better passing and teams flows better? Fien retires we have 2 hookers that's enough.Rein really needs to fix his passing from dummy half and stop those stupid hospital passes. It might be worthwhile if he can pick up some short kicking game skills as well....he was great last year, so what the hell has happened?

I'd say some pretty poor defence and equally poor refereeing ( for the 1st try ) contributed more to those tries than anything.
Another thing with Rein is getting used to the changes Price has made with our attack which is much flatter now than it's been in the past and also the lack of decoy runners ( except on some of our our set plays ), I believe he and the rest of the team are struggling with that.

The more of Garvey I see, the more I wonder how fast we can get him into the squad as the backup hooker, or even the cutters (he will be next year anyway, he turned 20 last month).

But with Rein resigned and King signed, he wont get a look in any time soon unless 1 is injured, and then Price seems to favour Cook so yeah I dont know how soon, but I like his size and skills and speed more than the others (longterm hooker).

Honestly, I don't think King did much better tonight. Rein just threw 1 forward pass and knocked on which made him look worse. I couldn't really tell the difference otherwise.

I think its the whole team - confidence is down and they have no direction. Even Dugan look out of sorts tonight. I hope he hasn't caught it too....

you've gotta be kidding...

Rein can't even throw an accurate pass and he is playing hooker which means he throws more passes than anyone else in the team.

King made a couple of nice runs up the middle, beautiful service with his passes, he picked Kasiano up and dumped him and constantly shot out of the line to inspire his team in defence...he played all over Rein last night

Head Coach Justin Holbrook made the single change to the line-up announced in midweek following hooker Craig Garvey’s promotion to the Illawarra Cutters for their NSW Cup clash against the Auckland Vulcans.

I just read this on Dragons site, did Garvey get a start for the Cutters last weekend? Thats the most exciting thing ive heard in a while.. but err how did he go :p ??
