Unlikely...i see Manly being more competitive & better in there D but?? i can't see them finishing higher then say 12th.....there so many clubs with better squads, maybe the year after they could be a genuine chance of making the 8 or around the mark.

Ron did you just slip up or are you coming around a bit, that paragraph is very sensible and pretty much puts what I have been trying to get across to you into context. The only difference is I think we can finish as high as 10th and definately finish in the 8 in 2005.

I can't see Manly finishing in the top 8 in 2005.
Parra, Saints and Nth Qld all had good chances to make it.
Parra and Saints would have but for their huge injury toll throughout the year.

On Parra's signings, Cannings, Muckert and Thorman are great signings.
Just ask the Nth Qld supporters what they think of Muckert. Thorman is coming over for peanuts. Pearson is a well experienced prop and will add good depth.

Who was Brad Drew before 2001 when we bought him, oh yeah and thanks for JT, we knew how to bring out the best in him while you guys knew how to blow 550k on Kimmorley, what a stuff up, you let go of Orford who you could have resigned cheaply. So don't even start debating our signings. If anything I believe we payed too much for Cannings, that's only because you guys were desperate to keep him and offered 200k.

As for buying big names, we don't need to becfause we produce them,
Cayless, Hindmarsh, Lyon, Vaeliki and Witt will be a star

Are you saying that Cayless, Hindmarsh, Lyon, Vaeliki and Witt are Parramatta juniors??   Cayless and Vaeliki are New zealanders and Hindmarsh and Lyon are from the bush, so much for producing them!

Cannings is about your only big buy. Muckert is nothing special, Thorman is an unkown and Pearson's best is behind him!

"Just ask the Nth Qld supporters what they think of Muckert" I've seen him play and I don't think he's an outstanding player. A solid performer but nothing special!

Hey swoop, Cayless's parents are from NZ. He was born here and lives near me and played his junior league for Wentworthville. He's a Parra junior through and through. Hindmarsh and Lyon came through our junior ranks as did Witt, playing SG Ball and Flegg and then all the way to 1st grade.

Muckert is a great buy. We already have Hopkins and Armitt to contest for the second row spot.

Thorman is one of the biggest prospects coming from the UK, and he's coming over for peanuts.

I'm surprised you guys let Crouch slip through your fingers, since you bought all our other reserve graders

Ok, Cayless may be a junior, but the others did come from the bush initially. Technically they may be juniors coming through the ranks but most of these guys were spotted by Crusher.

If you go through every club using your analogy then every club have produced their own. My point is that Parramatta has got one of the largest areas to drawn on to produce real local juniors but have opted to recruit from the bush.

Crouch was with Manly a few years ago and we let him go, he's not in my opinion a regular 1st grader. After he was released by Manly he went to the West Tigers(done nothing) then went to Parramatta(done nothing).

How many times have we heard of these great prospects only to see them falter. The English rugby league is miles behind the NRL so it's not a great gauge for judging how good a player he is. That's like me saying that Dallas Rennie is going to be a champion player but we don't know if he can make the next step. This applies to all new recruits that haven't played in the NRL!

1986 and what a great year it was!!...the side had greats like Sterling, Kenny, Grothe, Price....Manly's 95-97 side had greats like Danny Moore, Craig Innes, Jim Serdaris, Shannon Nevin, Anthony Collela
Give me a break, u can't compare the best players from parra's 86 team to the lesser players in Manly 96 team

how about Lyons, Toovey, Hasler and Menzies

P.S Innes was the best centre in the game at that time
