They are playing just about all the major metal festivals in Europe over the June period.
Rock in Rio (Lisbon), Rovarock (Switzerland), Gods of Metal (Italy), Download (Donnington, UK) and more will follow as the lineups are announced.
The only thing that worries me about the relaunch is the current rumour about its method. They are talking about releasing 'Welcome to the Jungle' in March, a CD featuring all of Axl's and Slash's favourite songs from the back catalogue. Quite how they are getting on together to choose the songs is beyond me, but thats how the story goes. The record company is apparantly going to release this as an indicator of how well Chinese Democracy will sell. I just can't see the relevance. We had a Greatest Hits last year which sold well, and that included most of the classics. The new one will be better and may include some unreleased material, but I can't see how people are going to buy a second Greatest Hits album by a band with only 3 proper albums.
Next Chinese Democracy will finally drop in May, in enough time for people to learn the songs before they play them in the festivals.
