I can't believe how well this kid is playing.

Some of (actually most of) his touches are outstanding - what about the flick pass to Hayne for Robson's try. Outstanding.

Brilliant support play, alsways backs up on a break, plenty of ticker in defense against monsters running at him all night and he gets back up every time after getting knocked down.

And what about the kicking game - finds ground on just about every kick.

I love this kid.

I actually thought he was a little off in the first half but he certainly picked his game up and the second half was much better.

Great post.....the kid is all class.

I hope we're able to hang on to him beyond next year.

True.

And I think that's anohter thing about him i'm really impressed with.

Most young players might go into their shell but Morts just brushes himself off, keeps a level head and does his job. Mentally he's very strong imo.

HJ will probably molest me for this, but he's definitely good country boy with a great attitude an amazing work ethic..not surprised at all.

I am surprised that he's doing it so quickly though.

Said it since the 1st day he was in 1st Grade, This Kid is something spiecal, He is in a higher class then Tim Smith.

I really hope we get this kid signed up soon, Along with Hayne they are the backbone of our backline.

he is great but the more I see him the more I think he is a 6 and not a 7. That's Ok Keating will do at 7 for the long term.

I honestly would like to see robbo resigned and have kk come off the bench.
Robbo brings that steady level head that Mortimer needs with him I rekon

The kid just keeps improving each week, and his kicking game has been ourstanding. He was targeted all night in defence and missed a few but kept coming back for more. His attitude and temprament for a rookie is well beyound his years.

Also in regards to him being better than tim smith I agree...smith seemed to pretty much coast at the same level with his talents where dm keeps building and building on each game

maybe because he is playing his role in the team exceptionally well.

but the 7 on his back and im sure we'll see a slightly different approach to his game.

Strange; the more I see him, the more I think he's a seven. He's certainly got class (whatever that means). One thing that seems to be creeping into his game that I don't like, though, is his propensity for reflex passing. He sometimes just passes the ball as a reflex action (he's got very quick reflexes) and puts the recipient under pressure, rather than be a little more judicious about it. It looks amazing when it comes off. But when it doesn't, it results in a dropped ball or the recipient being creamed.

I understand what you mean Lingard but dont you think that will come with more experience, he does get better every time he plays another game.!;-)

I told you he'd make it back in 2007....;-) but I can't say I thought he'd settle this well either.

Has a great all round game - support play, good passing game, good kicking game (long and short) and a very good running game.

He'll fill the seven jersey eventually and is probably best served at the moment playing second receiver.

I have seen flashs of a #7 in him but atm he is definatly more a 6. I expect him and KK to line up in the halves next year and I dont think it will matter who wears the 6 or 7 as they will probably share the role amoung themselves.

You sure did. I remember it well. I thought Hodkinson would be the man but you picked the right one. Great call. :thumb

Yes I do, Fee. I think he WILL be something very good for us. But right now he has some flaws in his game. I wouldn't ordinarily point them out but, as usual the media and some of the fans are building this young fellow up. If his name wasn't Mortimer - if it was Smith or Jones or McGooley, he wouldn't be talked up so much. But yes, he is good, and he will get better.
