Maybe, but we'll all look back and see he lost his nerve after 3 games. He will still have to commit to the plan and if he doesn't and we are not on a winning streak then Webby may get involved. Mind you nothing should be done until later in the season as Hook will be given time.
He is only warming the seat for Sloan/Amone & Sullivan. I think we all would have to agree that the coaching staff are closer to the kids development than we are.My opinion last year was that when Mbye was signed he was either going to be a handy utility or a blockage for Amone or Sloan & it appears it’s the later.
Mbye is going ok at fullback but offers very little in kick returns or in attack.
For mine I’d rather deal with the growing pains of Sloan playing & push Mbye to 9 or the bench to support McCullough who looks to be struggling.
My view is that every team needs to have a balance of grafters and brilliance. IMO, Sloan is the closest thing this club has to a match winner and needs to be playing FB. Mbye has exceeded expectations at FB but those expectations were low. He's not going to run 50 metres to scores a la Ryan Papenhuyzen- Sloan will. Keeping him in KOE where he's tearing it up is insane when we've squeaked home by five, two and six points in the last three weeks. As you say, he could be offered additional coaching eg video sessions to learn the defensive aspects of his role. I say let's use the Ferrari and not leave it parked in the garage. My opinion last year was that when Mbye was signed he was either going to be a handy utility or a blockage for Amone or Sloan & it appears it’s the later.

I think when sullivan came back it also made a difference to Sloans game. Mbye has exceeded my expectations at FB, but when will be the time for Sloan to return. As previously mentioned I'm sure the coaching staff have some idea.My view is that every team needs to have a balance of grafters and brilliance. Most definitely agree, no use scoring 2 tries, if you let in four....we could've kept Dufty.I think when sullivan came back it also made a difference to Sloans game. I think the time will be when Mbye gets injured or suspended or moves into the 5/8th or hooker spot. I don't think it will happen in the normal course of things.I think when sullivan came back it also made a difference to Sloans game. Absolutely agree that Sullivan's long-standing combo with Sloan would increase the team's scoring potential. I feel Bud offers more than Amone atm- Junior's step is becoming a tad predictable and he is struggling to make an impact. Bud's try against the Tigers showed speed of thought and foot as well as strength. I know he's had his injury problems but hopefully he can convince Hook sooner rather than later that he offers more than Bird at 5/8.I think when sullivan came back it also made a difference to Sloans game. Hook really values Mbye's work in organizing the defensive line from the back. Yes, it is only one part of the job but an important part for the Saints these days. If Sloan could get the hang of this in reserve grade, that would be one more string to his bow.My view is that every team needs to have a balance of grafters and brilliance. Mbye's continued selection at FB probably says more about our front line defence than Sloan's defence or communication with our defensive line. I've seen Papenhuyzen pushed off by attackers in the act of scoring a try against Melbourne but no calls to replace him with Munster or some other bigger body. Bellamy clearly is prepared for these odd mistakes from Pap as their front line defence doesn't concede many line breaks and put him in harm's way. Meanwhile their attack is overwhelming defences and Pap is a huge part of that.Hook really values Mbye's work in organizing the defensive line from the back. Moses definitely has more ball in hand skills than Bird or Junior. We desperately need one playmaking half and he is the obvious choice. Bit harsh the member that said 'no use scoring two tries but allowing in four. I think his defense is affective when needed.. everyone misses tackles. No mention by the same member of the ripper grasscutter he pulled off to save a probable six pointer last week. He is also safe under the bomb. Problem for Tyrell is that Moses seems to have the fullback spot for the forseeable future. Someone wrote that Tyrell has been playing as a second 5/8 in reggies.. any bells ringing Griffin.hopefully he can convince Hook sooner rather than later that he offers more than Bird at 5/8.
Judging by 2021 repeated team selections, it's only a mortal sin for some.Pretty clear that Sloan is being punished by Griffin for a lack of effort - a mortal sin as far as Griffin is concerned.
It's not about making the occasional tackle. It's more about organisating our line of defense from the back. Plus I don't think Hook liked the way Sloane & Amone looked in the Sharks game.Bit harsh the member that said of Mbye 'no use scoring two tries but allowing in four. If you read Dragonsteve's account of Tyrell's display in the match against the Magpies in the KOE thread, lack of effort is the last thing we could accuse him of. He put in a similar display the week before.Pretty clear that Sloan is being punished by Griffin for a lack of effort - a mortal sin as far as Griffin is concerned. He's never really tolerated players not trying, especially young players. Hopefully Tyrell learns his lesson and provides so much evidence of consistent effort that Griffin can't ignore it. There are way more points in this team with Sloan in the 1 jersey and we'll need them
The Board, haha.Just like he had to do with Madge this time last year, Mbye's come out with Josh McGuire with the usual coach defence.
He was probably purchased solely for this reason, to handle the media. He surely wasn't signed for any footy ability. Go back and read this thread if you ever doubted it. The signing of Moses was not supported by 90% of fans who didn't buy into this charade.
Watch Mbye get schooled by a young and exciting centre this week. As for McGuire he isn't here next year so his words aren't worth much in defence of Hook and the team.
Congrats board. We are a circus once again.
