For comedies, I have to go with Top Secret!, the next Zucker/Abrahams movie released after Airplane!/Flying High.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Secret!

I think I was lucky to have come across this randomly on TV in the early 90s and recorded for multiple viewings, 'cos I don't recall ever seeing it in video stores back in the day, and no-one I know seems to have ever seen it either.

There's just so much awesomeness in terms of terrible cheesy one-liners and visual gags, it is a shame it never seems to get the love that Airplane, Hot Shots, Naked Gun and the likes get in terms of popular parody comedy films.

Also Val Kilmer rules the school.

I saw it when it was first released at the movies, it is a classic in my books. When I want a real belly laugh I put on the DVD of it for a laugh.

I still love the scene with General Streck on the phone checking on the condition of Sergeant Kruger -

General Streck: [on the phone] What is the condition of Sergeant Kruger?.......
Very well, let me know if there is any change in his condition. [Hangs up] He's dead.

Crack's me up every time.

Haha, yup that's a classic moment! I also love the priest doing the last rites, so ridiculous. And the bar fight scene is randomly impressive. Or impressively random. As well as a million other things.

I've got this recorded as well (from Sky/digital TV), might watch it again when I get home from work tonight!

Fantastic call, I bought the dvd for $5 about three months ago. Still in the wrapper, but want to rip into it over the weekend now. REALLY underrated.

One of my favourites. So many funny bits it's hard to remember them all. The guy running to catch the tree was funny for me.

The priest giving himself the last rites was hilarious as was his version of latin.

Omar Sharif getting a hard on when he was in the crushed car and the aerial goes up instead.

Yeah so much good stuff, did a quick google search and found this interview which is rather interesting, also recalls some of the stupid stuff that is just so funny (e.g. "SHHHHHHH" when they're walking on leaves), as well as talking about the making of some the iconic moments (underwater & backwards scenes).

Souvenirs, novelties, party tricks...

-----
Agent Cedric: Wait. You dropped your phony dog poo.
Blindman: What phony dog poo?
-----

Dr Paul Flammond: Go quickly. If they find out you've seen this, your life will be worth less than a truck load of dead rats in a tampon factory.

-----

Hillary Flammond: My uncle was born in America.
Nick Rivers: Oh, really?
Hillary Flammond: But he was one of the lucky ones. He managed to escape in a balloon during the Jimmy Carter presidency.

Oz the great and powerful. It's a good film to see once. I'm so happy to have foxtel movies, allows me to see plenty of things I wouldn't want to spend money on buying/renting (not that I've rented a movie for years).
I like Franco. 7/10

28 Days later - Most people I've talked to don't rate It. But I think it's the best zombie re-imagination/virus movie in the past 30 years.

Super Troopers - Couldn't imagine my comedy DVD collection without it, but a lot of people haven't even heard of it :(

Christine (John Carpenter) - Greatest love story of our time ;)

Its a very good movie, mainly because the movie focused away a bit from the zombies and looked at ourselves. Rare for a zombie movie.

It says something about the quality of the movie when Val Kilmer's role is not a particularly memorable one (good actor though). The true "star" of the movie is the superb writing of "Zucker & Abrahams" rather than any particular actor.

Good run on Fox this week. Like they've been reading this thread.

They've shown Donnie Brasco, last night Wake In Fright got a rare run and tonight it's Best Years of Our Lives.
