Let's go through...

Sia Soliola - If he had have stayed fit, the Raiders would have pinched 8th spot.

Frank Pritchard - I loved Frank the Tank but for whatever reason, it appeared as if he's been out of sight, out of mind for a few years. The media got over him, so people moved onto their next darling. In which case, I thought there were games where Pritchard out-performed Jackson and came up with bigger plays. I was surprised when so little was made of his form, for mine he was one of the Bulldogs better players.

Gerard Beale - Doesn't receive the credit he deserves for Holmes' development. A really solid link-man who holds his own in the three-quarters. Definitely an upgrade on who the Sharks had before him.

Luke Douglas - Used to be a fixture in these sorts of discussions but has been forgotten about amid the Titans worries. Just a very solid tradesman like prop who gets through his business and does everything he can to make it on the field. There's something to respect about that.

Tom Symonds - The Mr. Fix It of Manly. I think that role has hurt his career somewhat as I like what I've seen of him on the fringes. Still, a player of his calibre is always handy to have around.

Tim Glasby - A versatile forward who can either earn you hard yards in the middle or create things on the fringes. Doesn't receive that much attention from the media, but the coach loves him and for good reason.

Joseph Tapine - Displays great foot-work and is very skillful for a player his size. 2015 should have been a break-out year for Joe but for whatever reason the coach wasn't willing to give him game-time.

John Asiata - Similar to Frank Pritchard to the extent that there were times where he was out-playing the Dally M Lock of the Year. Just a good all-round prospect with a nice passing game which gives the Cowboys more options.

Manu Ma'u - Provides Parramatta with plenty of stability down their left fringe. His ability to link up with his outside men makes him very dangerous.

Jeremy Latimore - A quiet achiever who continues to get better with age. Isn't afraid to fight in every single tackle and his ability to pop offloads gives Penrith an extra dimension in attack.

Jack de Belin - For mine, one of the most improved players in the game. When the Dragons were the form team, it was physicality of players like de Belin that gave them that extra edge. I had no idea where his career was going but if he continues to improve he should be in Origin discussions.

Luke Keary - Had a quiet 2015, but Keary is a serious footballer and can read the play better than most people his age. 2016 could be a make or break season for Keary, but I think fans have been a little quick to write him off.

Mitchell Aubusson - The new poster child of this thread. He's basically a better version of Symonds and I think it's a crime he hasn't been given a better look in at Origin over the past few years.

Simon Mannering - I couldn't believe it when his name wasn't considered for the Dally M Lock of the Year. The Warriors had a disappointing year, but Mannering was one of their better performers week in and week out. With an improved roster, I'm sure we'll see his name there abouts this year.

Ava Seumanufagai - An honest toiler who does his job off the bench with very little fuss. In a side as mentally weak as the Tigers, Seumanufagai seemed like one of the only players who just went on with business.

As for somebody who I support...

Jordan Kahu - An extremely skillful back who can play anywhere 1-6 and isn't afraid of a challenge. Has overcome some huge obstacles in his career and it appears his best days are infront of him.

Glad someone mentioned Jeremy Latimore, so kudos to you Big Pete. He's incredibly consistent for us and never has a bad game. Great bloke off the field.

I'll put in another vote for Gavin Cooper as well. Its criminal that he hasn't played rep footy.

Stockwell is pretty underrated. He was one of the form forwards for the Knights this year before copping a season-ending injury. I'm surprised the Dragons got rid of him because I think he's going to develop into a fine prop.

I was personally gutted when he left us. When he broke into first grade I thought he'd go on to play for Australia (still could) but has had issues with his back since. If he gets a couple of good preseasons under his belt, could be an awesome prop. Doesnt have the raw agro of Klemmer but hes strong, good leg drive and usually always gets to his stomach when tackled.

I don't think he's had back problems at the Knights but he suffered a torn pec which ruled him out of for the year.

Before that he was the only player providing impact off the bench for us (amongst plodders like Houston and Fa'alogo who were constantly dominated in every tackle). Like you said, he has excellent leg drive and almost always lands on his stomach with a quick play-the-ball as well. His one game, when he was starting at lock, he was the best player on the park and produced something like 170m+ and 30+ tackles IIRC.

This really is a question for coaches...who's their first pick outside of their 'stars'? Who do they rely on - every time? Who do they know will do their job? Play 80 minutes because they have a big ticker?
Most fans don't have a clue but some do see which ones are the epitome of RL & teamwork. There are those that have that and the skills to go with it but some fans don't get to appreciate that because they're blinded by the flashy plays, the finishers, the playmakers (& aren't they special) but never give a thought to how that play came about, who set it up a couple of plays before, who did the hard graft to make it happen...
But good coaches know.

The most ridiculous quote I've heard is Bennett's - that he would never pay a forward over $300K - playmakers wouldn't be half what they are without the grafters & forwards (with a brain that is - and there are a few around). Good thread

Off the top of my head

Simon Mannering - Serious workhorse and leader. Playing on the edge in 2014 he found try-scoring form. In 2015 went back into the middle and was the busiest player in the competition.

Tyrone Peachey - Incredibly gifted. Huge potential. X-factor player.

Bodene Thompson - Had a breakout year last year and was, in my opinion, one of the best backrowers in the competition.

Gavin Cooper - As already mentioned, surprised he has never played origin. Especially considering his combination with JT.

From my club

Shaun Fensom. Disgraceful he hasn't even cracked a Country jersey over the last few years.
