Movements in lower grades

Well, the season is about to start, pre-season anyway. As we know there is a fair bit of stability in NRL and Premier League, have we any idea whats happening around the players in Flegg etc.
I believe Jeremy Smith will be going to England (purely financial)
Koborsi and Heslop to the Bulldogs I hear
Basan to Asquith with possibly Nasio, and Danny Russell to North Sydney,
anyone heard anything of interest

I dont think we will be letting Nasio go as he is a top talent. Korbosi wanted out ages ago but he is nothing special. Don't know about Heslop as a player.

Koborsi was very good in the lower grades but never really did much once he made the Flegg team but then again if his reasons for leaving are true then he may come back as a player Parra shouldn't have let go.

Heslop did his job but Parra have better props coming through

Jersemy Smith not being re-signed seems like a mistake for now but if Green works on his game then the loss won't be that bad.

Basan leaving is a surprise but the fact that no other NRL club picked him up is an even bigger surprise.

Nasio is another I would've like to have kept but he still had a lot of work to do on his game and fitness and with the massive number of props Parra have running around in the lower grades his game time wouldn't have been that much so it might be a good idea to ship him off to the Bears for a year or two then sign him back once his fitness etc is better.

Movement in the lower grades will depend on a number of things, age of player, form over the last 12 months, new players already signed.

I would suggest that a number of players will not be regraded as they are now too old for Flegg and their form does not justify a move up to PL.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over Basan, Koborsi, Heslop, Greaves, Jones, Law, McLeavy, Wynn, Constable, Boorer, Micallef, Russell, and even MacGougan.

None have shown me that they are better than players in PL or capable of going any further.

out of that list I would say the MccGougan is the only player I really want to keep.

Tim Wynn? He is only young and will be a good player.

I also like the look of Micalef, he is a solid player and a very good finisher.

he's too old for flegg and apparently could be playing PL on match payments.

don't wanna here all this! it'll make me sad!!

what about a young SG Ball/Flegg player with the first name Shaun (or Sean)?
We made friends with him, and last time we saw him he just said he was trialling again, cos he was out all last year with a broken jaw??

What's the deal with the bloody Bears?

No First Grade NRL team, but they can still poach our Juniors? WTF?

And please don't lose Nasio. The guy could be anything.

What about all the players that the Eels poach from the Bears. eg Tim Wynn.

I'll keep you all posted on who the second player is

The main problem that the bears have with recruitment is simple, especially when it comes to juniors

Because there is no first grade or NRL team at Norths, its not as tempting for juniors and there are less opportunities for senior players than neighbouring teams such as manly which do have an NRL team. Norths have just as good at the moment, if not better juniors than manly. There is no where else to look but from other clubs if your junior development program isn't up to par, and you can't recruit juniors because you have no first grade team (sad but a true fact)

If they can work on their junior development then it'll be an awesome club to play for. You never know what will happen over the next 10 years between Norths and Melbourne...

OK. Fair point.

I just got a bit carried away, because I'm hoping that Ray Nasio wasn't the guy you guys signed....He's got talent written all over him.
