Well it’s a great result for the finances of the game

a Sydney grand final apparently makes a profit of around 15 million for the game

throw in the extra 8 million the nsw govt chipped in and it’s happy days

who knows how much more they get out of nsw next year if it’s more cities bidding

Doesn't get the stadium updates, could of changed to that tact earlier

again
there will always be floods , natural disasters , strikes .. whatever
this situation is not new , it was a pathetic excuse used by a pathetic govt

Vlandys job is what is best for Rugby League & when deals are broken , written or otherwise
then its time to act

this is what PVL did

Again though Labour is not campaigning on funding the stadiums, in fact that they have stated categorically they aren’t going to fund them. That’s a lot worse from an NRL perspective of reneging or reducing on some funding or delaying it.

So out of the two options, sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.

The state govt are the ones who have boxed themselves into a corner here

having the grand final up for bids each year which they will have to beat is a terrible outcome for them when they would have 300 million in assets they own which make them money

What money does Shark Park make for the government?

Well most of the money was going to Penrith they’d have made a lot of money from that

but if you are ok with that not happening good for you

It is arguable that any of these single tenanted stadiums in Sydney would provide much money to the coffers to the state government.

The argument for stadiums is to generate money from tourism and investment in local businesses around the stadium precinct. You may get some rise in the latter but you surely aren’t going to drive much more tourism into say Cronulla or Penrith by making the stadium capacity a few thousand more. That doesn’t mean that they don’t need the investment though.

Add an 18th team -2 conferences of 9 teams - 5 team finals series in each conference.

The 2 conference winners play a Superbowl type game 2 weeks after the conference grand finals.

The revenue and interest generated will make this a no brainer to have such a game - a win win or icing on the cake as they say for the game

This Superbowl type game can be shopped around to the highest suitable bidder as there are at least 6 options- Sydney (Accor) / Melbourne (MCG) / Brisbane(Suncorp) /Perth (Optus) /Adelaide(Adelaide Oval ) /NZ (Eden Park).

Throw in the CoE's and it is more on other projects

I am nor happy with it not going ahead, it was the only outcome when the NRL tried to play tough with the Govt.

Given they were funding plenty of things besides those 3 suburban Stadiums

Who are in the two conferences. If the proposal includes an all Sydney conference then no

Good outcome, especially the part where Perth Dred is having a cry.
yeh great outcome, no $800mill for accor, no $300mill for suburban tart ups, penrith now at risk. Relationship with key stakeholder in the bin. And for it all we got the GF still in Sydney despite all the threats and bluster lol.

Vlandys keeps raising commbank and the financial benefits, thats because there are 4 club using it! Good luck getting any ROI with one club using a $300-400mill stadium.
