I would guess that the people who want it moved aren't STH and pick which games they turn up to. I think it would be worth stating in you reply if you are a STH and reason e.g. bigger gate taking, closer to home, better facilities, chance of better seat etc.

I believe there would.
It's a grudge match.

It is but given that we have only ever had more than 20,000 people at a Parramatta Stadium home game once (Rnd 18, Jul 05) I don't think we'd come close to 30,000. A finals game.... yes. Round 1, we won't sell out.

I'll state a few facts and reasons why.
I'm not a season ticket holder but may soon well become one.

If I was, it wouldn't make any difference.

I think Parramatta Stadium is a far more intimate and far better viewing stadium than Homebush. Without doubt.
Homebush ISN'T closer to home.
Homebush has by far the better facilities - that's a given.
Bigger gate taking certainly comes to the fore. Why would we (as a club) turn away a potential financial windfall if it were on offer?
Home gorund advantage - I think our record at Homebush is pretty damned good. This does not worry me. Look what Saints home ground advantage did for them in the semi final!!!
The choice of a potential very large crowd at Homebush as opposed to a maybe sellout of just a tad over 20 000 at Parra is a no brainer.

We shouldn't be just thinking about ourselves and our season ticket seats in this day and age, we should be thinking about our club, and the game as a whole - and a spectacle.

As I said before.....why turn away fans at ANY game, if we have a chance not to?

Marketed the right way, there's no reason why there shouldn't be a heap more than 30 000 at Homebush.

I would rather watch my eels play in a close to capacity Parra Stadium then watch them play at ANZ where you will see more empty seats then occupied ones. If the game was being played later in the year and both teams are on fire you would look at moving the game to ANZ cause you will be certain to get a good showing but for a round 1 clash I couldn't justify it.

Marketed right you could be right. Though I wonder if the Dragon Army and the B&G Army will be bolstered at such an early stage of the season by the bandwagon.....

If it was moved to ANZ I would punt on a crowd of no more than 25,000.

 As many people were there to watch the football as they were to be at the opening of the stadium..... Honestly Suity, it isn't a valid comparison.

you can't compare that!

Yeh, I know, but I thought I'd give it a shot!!

Seriously though, 2 years ago, we got 55 000 for a semi vs the Bulldogs. This year we got 75 000.
There is a huge market out there, if only we could tap into it properly.
Locking them out by choosing a smaller venue ain't tapping into the market.

STH need to be thought of as they are one of the most important aspects of the club, just ask souths and why they make such a push to increase numbers. It is not just the numbers who turn up for the big games like the dogs, it's the ones who turn up on a cold rainy saturday night to watch the raiders or warriors that support make the club.

Until we achieve more than a couple of sellout games at parra we shouldn't move. Last year the home game against the dogs sounded more like an away game for us and has been noted in the past the crowd can help bring the team home in a close game.

Add to that the cost of parking and drinks/food are more expensive at ANZ.

Suity, should the grand final be moved to Melbourne?

Probably a great case in point. Local derby, first game of the season after we lost the grand final and we start favourites for the next.

Yeh, I know, but I thought I'd give it a shot!!

Big game, big crowd. That is all the marketing it needed. It may not be but at the start of the season I think it is probably being realistic to not expect huge crowds. If they did move the crowd and spent a heap on marketing but only had 15,000-20,000 rock up, what then?

i reckon we'd get 30 to 40K if we moved to homebush

dragons fans will still be in denial for at least the start of the season that they might be good enough to win a GF

and I think our fans won't be disheartened by the GF loss like they were in 2001 - cos the GF appearance last yr was totally unexpected - our fans will be excited

the only thing stopping a sellout at parra stadium would be that it is friday night .... I reckon more people would turn out at homebush on a friday than at parra

And what a great way to promote the sale of season tickets than opening up a blockbuster game to as many fans as possible.
Your opinion still sounds selfish to me. And I don't mean that in a personal way.

Just like the 75 000 did at Homebush for the semi last year perhaps?
Or did the crowd in that game play no part?

What, worse than Parra? You're having a laugh. The catering at Parramatta is the worst of any NRL ground I have ever been to. Prices don't differ much, if any tbh.

Suity, should the grand final be moved to Melbourne?

Pfft.............Melbourne sucks. As if I'd ever be an advocate for that. Don't try and paint a picture that ain't true. All I want is for the opportunity for as many fans as possible to see games.

Exactly.
How many of those 40 - 50 000 Parra fans that turned up to the Grand Final would be willing to go back again.
How about all those that went to the Leagues Club or were crowding the Church street strip, or even those who stayed at home who couldn't get tickets would want to make up that lost opportunity?
We'll never know in a 20 000 capacity stadium.

I go back to my original point. Why turn potential fans away?
I haven't heard a convincing reply yet.
