So I would like to add my opinion, and before I do I will make some declarations so we know where I am coming from.
Firstly I am a Tenured season ticket holder, as in I have had my season tickets for over ten years. Same seats since Round 3 1996.
Next I am also an ANZ Gold member, I am one of over 17,200 members of that Stadium. We pay our subscription fees each year like a season ticket and those funds go to attracting events to ANZ Stadium. Including the payments made to League sides who use the venue as a home base.
So having said that, let me say this.
If there is a crowd of over 20,000 predicted, indeed over 25,000 predicted, We should move the game.
Firstly from a Pure income point.
At Parramatta Stadium, the most we can make out of a packed house, would be slightly more than playing the Game at ANZ Stadium, but if my inside information is correct, ANZ Stadium's deal also has a sweetener. If the game attracts a crowd of over 25,000 then the home club receives profit sharing from the event. My ANZ insider tells me that can be up to 50% of the original income for a game of 30 - 35,000 attendee's
If we could attract 50,000 that figure could escalate to 75% and if that were the case, we are looking at the value of a medium sized kit sponsorship for a year, returned the club, as pure profit (remember at ANZ we have no expenses to play unlike Parramatta Stadium) in one single game.
ANZ is Sydney's big event Stadium, and while our record in the past has been poor there, since we have used it as a home ground we are doing much better at the venue.
Now BAE brings up the Bulldogs home game, and indeed we were our numbered, he fails to mention at the corresponding game at Parramatta Stadium last season (Parramatta vs Dragons) we were also greatly out numbered. In both cases we were playing sides that were playing good attractive and winning football at the time, and had been for a number of weeks.
While season ticket holders should indeed demand loyalty to our long term home ground, which for most home and away games is more than adequate given our past record, we should also be flexible enough to allow our club to survive and indeed thrive when opportunities present themselves.
Also for a game that is over 35,000 the State normally would put on Free public transport for ticket holders, so if you didn't want to spend the $20 on the parking, Drive to your nearest train station, park for free, and get the train to the door.
