And what a great way to promote the sale of season tickets than opening up a blockbuster game to as many fans as possible.
Your opinion still sounds selfish to me. And I don't mean that in a personal way.

Just like the 75 000 did at Homebush for the semi last year perhaps?
Or did the crowd in that game play no part?

What, worse than Parra? You're having a laugh. The catering at Parramatta is the worst of any NRL ground I have ever been to. Prices don't differ much, if any tbh.

Pfft.............Melbourne sucks. As if I'd ever be an advocate for that. Don't try and paint a picture that ain't true. All I want is for the opportunity for as many fans as possible to see games.

totally agree about it being a selfish opinion on my part but being a person who buys a season ticket and turns up to most games I feel it caries weight. I know how I will react if to many games get moved, you are trying to guess the reaction of people who at the moment do not turn up regularly.

I have to pay $20 for parking at ANZ, at parra it's free. I didn't say the food was better at parra but cheaper. Not by much, I give you that, by the way STH get a discount at ANZ.

The MCG has a capacity of over 100K people, ANZ 80k, why turn people away? touche.

No, I'm just trying to make available the opportunity for as many people as possible to turn up.
So what if they ain't regulars. One day they may become regulars.

You HAVE to pay $20 for parking at Homebush? I've never paid for parking there in the life of it's existance. You just have to know where to park, if $20 bothers you.

WTF? :?

Just another point. That is exactly the attitude that Saints took into their home semi - final.
They didn't win, and cost themselves a couple of hundred G's in the meantime.
1970's approach.
Just plain dumb.

The MCG was for the grand final part of the reply, if we are prepared to move club games to bigger local venues why doesn't the extra capacity come into play for the Grand final?

while using saints as the example, why did they return their home games back to Kogarah from ANZ. They tried ANZ as a home venue and obviously the numbers didn't stack up.

If we can demonstrate the need for more capacity at Parra it will add to the pressure to expand it. If we start taking more games away from parra the trust may get nervous. At most we can increase by about 10k, what's to stop the money being spent on parra and we then take games away because the potential of 40k+.

Because it's an AFL/cricket gorund, not a rectangular stadium.
Check out the discussion re Australia's World Cup bid, and undesirable circular stadiums.

Now that I have answered your questions, how about you try and answer some of mine?

Turning away potentially tens of thousands of fans?
Turning away potentially hundreds or even thousands of new members/season ticket holders and generating extra income for the club.
Income generated by larger crowds for the club which could do with the extra dosh.
Competing professionally with sports that are after our market?

No, of course not. As long as you are tucked up comfortably in your season ticket holders' seat with a thermous, that's all that counts, eh?

It's 2009, not 1975.

They are only "potential" crowd, I would rather see a sellout or 2 before thinking of moving regular games. After people miss out they may be more inclined to buy seat earlier or become STH. Look at the reaction to members getting preferential treatment to the GF, that has probably increased ST sales this year.

As I said previously about the income, it will affect the leagues club takings and may also affect regular takings. We are already generating extra income through season ticket sales and people may feel disgruntled about the change in venue, I know I was when we first moved games to ANZ.

Taking games to ANZ may actually assist other sports to poach our crowds , if we regularly play games there people may find it a better option to become ANZ members and get the benefit of all the events held there including the afl western side.

Give me a beer not a thermos, and 1976 was a better year for us, bring back Cumberland in the heart of Parramatta territory.

Above all else we are the Parramatta Eels.

Ok the jist of this thread was made to balance out last years argument when Parramatta was trying to push the Saints out of Kogarah , just putting a simple spin on it at another angle cause lets face it , it will be a huge game, believe me id prefer Parra 100fold over ANZ its a 10minute drive for me ;)

Im sure the majorty of those that were arguging that it should have been moved were arguing for the Finals game to be moved, not the regualar season match.

Hows circumstance's change mate ?
The selling of the finals series to the bandwagon? yes most business decision makers would be very pleased at such an offer and would throw themselves at the oppurunity , but this is more then that , the return on the more bigger prize is much more full of riches , im still glad we didn't move.

I think you will find it was quite similar to this thread as I know I and several other parra supporters were saying they earned the right to have a home game but others were saying that as many supporters as possible should get the chance to see it.

Am more than happy with our Round 1 home game being at our home ground.

It will sell out. Some people may miss out, but that's what season tickets are for if that worries you. It's not too late to buy one either...

Is it going to be at the stage where every big name match will have a debate whether to move it away from a home ground or not?

Might as well scrap home games while we're at it.

Upgrade Parra Stadium to 30K, Build a carpark, add more bars and food outlets, get 2 good screens.

Problem solved, Oh and more buses from Parra station

I got a season ticket for the first time this year (which I haven't got yet, is that normal?).
But I would still rather they move the game to ANZ if it means more people get to attend the game, I still get in for free dont I?
