No not forgetting him at all. I was implying Maloney for another year or 2 then a Chad/Flanno combo. No difference these days between half or 5/8.
Only way we keep Maloney is on a new improved contract and he will want more than an extra year.

That is true for 2019, yes. I'd be happy to upgrade him next year if he signed on for 2019 as well. I think he'd want 2020 as well though, not sure I'd go that far.

Its a dilemma. I cant see his defence improving as he ages. Thats why i'm tempted to cut and run.

So the more money you have, the less affected you are by personal issues?

Yes, it's a massive factor I reckon.

I'm over these highly paid footballers with (apparent) demons that get shuffled to a rehab centre & all is fixed.

There are thousands of people in the community doing it tougher & they get f**k all help or compassion.

I don't understand your point. Should he then click his fingers and decide to be happy? Should he be embarrassed that he can afford to get help? Or are you simply convinced he's a malingerer without any evidence?

What do you want him to do?

My point is he's paid big bucks to play footy, with so many people relying upon him.

Get out & play the game you've been blessed with amazing talent to play.

If you make your life all about money / or sport / or business or whatever you're heading for a reckoning and these dudes are prone. That shit, while nice when going well, don't love you back.

(At least that's what we poor, talentless, dumbos tell ourselves)

Maloney debuted later than most, I reckon he still has another 2-3 quality years left in him.

Assume 650K is what Maloney is on.

If they each came to us for that same figure my preference would be to keep Maloney. Cronk is unquestionably a better player, but he's a halfback and we already have one. If we lost Maloney, Cronk would be the best half on the market though and we should target him.

It only gets interesting (to me) if the Pennies would be willing to subsidise Moylan's contract. Suppose he's on 800K (which is possible he only re-sighed last year) and the Pennies subsidised half of it then Moylan becomes an interesting prospect worth considering.

At 400K I think he would offer better value than Maloney.

Comes down to the money for me.

youre dreaming if you think Pennies will pay any of Moylans contract.
Gould wont want Maloney. He will have a good idea of our 20's players.

If the Pennies want to offload Moylan they have no choice but to contribute to the new contract. Obvious downside of signing players to long term big money contracts. If you think any club has 800k spare for a disillusioned Matty Moylan you're in lala land.

Moylan will be snapped up for the bargain price of around $1mil.
And Penrith wont contribute 1 cent towards his contract.
The winning bidder/club will also have the privelage of handing over one of their prized juniors.

I'm out if that's the price! Moyza and gus can continue to sulk at each other at 20 paces.

Robin Williams was blessed with amazing talent. He was paid an absolute fortune and all he had to do was tell jokes.

Perspective is a funny thing Cardy. I'm sure there would be people below you on the ladder ready to tell you to suck it up if, heaven forbid, you ever stumbled in that regard

He wasnt my type of 5/8. But neither was jimmy. Then I was converted when I saw the speed & the directness they both play at.
Both great players. Great position to be in.
