How about the Doors Ronnie?.

Yeah Doors weren't to bad, i listened to them alot when i was 16,17 and i saw there movie aswell.

La Women, RoadHouse blues & Light my Fire where my favourite songs..espically Light my fire the full version with the Keyboard solo which is bloody awesome.

Apparently Jim Morrison was alot worse then the way Val Kilmer acted as him in the movie   .....he must have been one nutty person

From what ive heard...... doors concerts were to the extreme.... either real boring or a real excitment. Keyboardist Ray deserves so much praise as the guy could play bass and solo's on the keyboard and could even sing when Morrison was usually in a drug or alcohol coma!. :D

Gilmour was brilliant..... i remember watching Live at Pompeii around 10 years ago and it blew my mind. Gilmour with his guitar lying flat on the ground creating so many amazing sounds. I was never really into Pink Floyd but they were good.

I still really like Pink Floyd. I notice Live in Pompeii is being released on DVD very soon and will definately be picking that one up.
Currently I'm heavily into the Progressive groups such as Dream Theater, Opeth - Progressive death metal?
I picked up the new Maiden CD but had to return it because the so called copy control thing they put on it doesn't work in my CD player! Funny thing is if it did work I would have been able to copy it.

ive always found that death metal has cool guitar riffs, but the vocals are foul. How can you understand a word?. I hate the singing aspect of it.

The keyboardist Ray is Ukranian....i've got Ukranian in my background so the bloke's a legend :D

Yeah Jim was one messed up individual from what i've read & heard about him.....he was one weird bastard aswell.

He was a good songwriter but in regards to actual talent with an instrument??......left alot to be desired!!

That's what I like about Opeth - They blend Acoustic guitars with heavy electric guitars and Death metal style vocal with clean vocals. The end result is really amazing.
Opeth are not for everyone, most of there songs are long form - running 10 minutes plus most of the time.
The Drapery Falls from Blackwater Park CD is one of the most amazing songs I've every heard. Running at about 11 minutes it has everything.

Download The Drapery Falls. If you like that you will probably like Opeth, if not forget about it.

I haven't got all the Opeth CD's but of the ones I've got Blackwater Park is probably the place to start. It has the greatest diversity in the songs.
Track one sounds like a heavier version of Pantera and ends with a 2 minute piano solo.
The acoustic song - Harvest does not sound out of place or compromising.
The Drapery Falls is hauntingly beautiful, combining the heavier parts and mellow parts brilliantly.

The Deliverance CD is extremely heavy with only one mellow song - a two minute acoustic instrumental.

Damnation was recorded at the same time as deliverence and is its companion CD with every song on it being mellow. It couldn't even be classified as being metal yet it keeps the Opeth sound.
