My opinion on "Bandwagon" supporters

Well I guess I am one of those bandwagon supporters.

I have been to 2 games this year including last Friday night, I wanted to go tonight but I am working an afternoon shift. I will be content at sitting down at work tonight, watching the game on 9, while getting paid shift rates.

Still I have followed the club for over 31 years, spent many years back in the late 80's - mid 90's going to every home game (yes the dark years of the club). Got married had a family and have other priorities. Still I watch every game during the year as I have Foxtel.

I am still the same die hard supporter as I was back in 1979, that has not changed. I guess because I have other commitments such as family, work, RFS, WIRES, just to name a few and I dont get to every game.

I am classed as a fair weathered fan. So be it.......................

This is my first post after lurking for some time. As this thread title states, I am going to share my opinion on "said" Bandwagon supporters as posted in other threads (especially non-parramatta threads). I find it ludicrous that other teams supporters claim that parra supporters are jumping aboard the good ship "Parrapower" just because they started winning some games. Every club plays out this scenario. Obviously, if a team is losing you won't see a big crowd at home games, only the true diehard supporters will part with their hard earned dollars when the decision needs to be made. Souths are a prime example.........core supporters go to every game through thick and thin. They start winning and you are swamped by their supporters quicker that bunnies breed....and on it goes.
I certainly don't feel Eels supporters are any worse in this area than any other teams supporters. Got that one off my chest..........GO PARRA!!
(waiting for me to be classed as a bandwagon supporter for joining this forum....:D)

I agree. I think theyre just jealous.

The only people whingeing that we're bandwagon supporters were tigers fans. Thats because they were scared that there'd be more of us than them at their own home game...which did happen.

welcome to our forums guys

bandwaggoners have been around for ages for all teams for all sports, I can live with it

I say load up them wagons!!! The more the merrier. Seriously who cares how long you've supported them or how many games you go to as long as you're cheering as loud as you friggin can!

no-one was trashing trains when the dogs were busy getting the spoon.
Have to laugh @ these Bulldog dickheads ,theyWIN a game by 24 points and STILL feel the need to go berserk.
Heaven help State Rail if they should get up in the GF.

I reckon people just call others bandwagon fans to make themselves feel good, feel like a better supporter than someone else.

I mean really, who gives a sh*t?

There's going to be a great crowd an atmosphere tonight.

Does it really matter that some people are only going because we're on a hot streak and it might be their first game of the year?

I agree 100%. I hate the elitist attitude of people who throw the tag at others. Like wanka celbrities who leak out how much they give to charity.

for clubs to survive we need bums on seats and if that means bandwagoners so be it. Hopefully they enjoy themselves and want to come back. I imagine there will be an increase in STH next year with the way we have been playing and the expectations around the new lineup.

Clubs need more than just somebody declaring themselves as a supporter to survive and people should remember this before it's too late. Depending on individual circumstances this may mean only attending one game a year or becoming a STH.

The worst thing about bandwagoners is the queue at Sterlo's before and after the game is that much longer. At least when we got beat by Cronulla I could walk straight up and buy four beers - no chance of that tonight! :)

This bandwagon talk is bulcrap. Firstly, every team has bandwagoners. Second, we're hardly the biggest.

The biggest in Sydney is souths. Where are all the white rabbits on cars and black rabbits on cars, the ssfc hoodies and the famous green and gold. When they weren't sh*t for a while, the bunny orgasm was everywhere.

Yeah, its true. Thousands of people protesting in the streets. Bring back the Bunnies. Every second car has a SSFC sticker, but they consistently cant sellout a toilet! Pity. I have a soft spot for the Bunns.
