The Dragons need to cause change to the way things are. Keeping Widdop at 6 hoping he will improve is madness. Move Widdop to fullback and Dugan to right centre. If things go wrong bring in Dufty or move Dugan back there. Just do something significant to cause change.
I would argue expecting dramatic improvement from positional changes or player changes whilst Mary is still in charge is madness. He is our major problem. Get rid of him and there will be improvement.

Get rid of Mary and the odds are you will get Hornby and Young as caretaker coach.

Just as Mary was part of the problem in the Price era, Hornby and Young are part of the problem in the current era.

We need our new coach to be announce ASAP and a caretaker coach from outside the Club to be appointed. A short term stint of Potter, Smith or someone else given the sole job of implementing a brief given to him by the incoming head coach.

The club has problems on multiple levels. I agree fixing one wont make it successful but, unless all of the issues are recognised and addressed and the solutions started to implemented then it will never improve.

Part of identifying what the player problems are and developing solutions is trying the players in different positions. If no player in the club has the needed skill set then at least recruiting can start earlier before the year end rush.

Unfortunately, the error was made last year in retaining dipshit and the best we can hope for is one of those 2 taking over and actually being good at the job. I don't blame Hornby or Young for our woes as JD quite obviously had little say in the way we play and I think that might be the case with those 2.

It stands for Why Would You Need To Know That Vas?
You don't want to say? If you are ashamed of your username, why use it? My username is "Glenn01". I'm a little embarrassed as I wonder if I would have been able to get just "Glenn" but I'm not ashamed of my username. If anyone asks why I chose it, I would happily tell them.

Happy for an incoming experienced coach to make these decisions on who to retain and recruit. I just hope that we end up with a good coach for 2018.

If you're embarrassed, why don't you just start a(nother) new account?

Are you being sarcastic or have you been smoking whatever it is the trippy old dude smokes so much? I noticed he liked your message.

Great idea. Take the short kicking duties off Widdop. After all, he is our marquee playmaker. His long kicking is even worse, it's just it gets noticed less unless he puts it out on the full, which he invariably does if it doesn't go straight to the fullback. His running game consists of running across field and slipping over or running around in a circle and falling over so don't let him run the ball either. His tackling is woeful so make sure JDB is Frizz is always nearby to help him out.

You know what? I have an idea! It's not much of an idea but........let's put it on the bus and see if it gets off at Olympic Stadium in September! McWanker should have Widdop sit in the corner of the in-goal for the entire match and not move. That way we won't be able to complain about his kicking, long and short, running game, playmaking, defence or goal kicking!

No seriously, Widdop belongs in the Cutters. If he shows some promise and the NRL halves are still shocking he has the possibility to be recalled.
You've done very well in this form, so I'll humour you before the inevitable meltdown occurs!

I am not for a second arguing that Widdop doesnt deserved to be dropped, nor that he should be kept on board next year. What I'm saying is that a decent coach would be able to make use of him, and would have put measures in place well before now in order to enhance what Widdop is doing on the field. He started kicking into shins early last year when in attacking zone, a real coach should have pulled the kicking duties from him and focussed more on his running, allowing him to kick only (which he is fine at). They would have noted and amended when he went from direct running to crabbing across field. Same way a decent coach would have pulled Rein up when he ran the ball every 4th tackle and f**ked up our momentum.

And like Rein, I think Widdop should be gone. But there's no doubt in my mind that the coach is the single greatest blight on this team by a fair margin, and anyone decent woud have made far better use of Widdops abilities over the last few years (and probably wouldnt have paid the money that Price did for him).

I'm sure I have no idea what you mean by the first paragraph.

The second is pretty simple. If the coach has to pull the marquee playmaker aside work with him in pretty much every facet of the game, don't you think it's better for the team to drop this guy to a lower level team and let him work on it there?

In my post I expressly said
"By all means continue to make comparisons why this player or that player deserves to be picked ahead of somebody else but thinking our fortune is linked to any 1 player is just plain stupid."
I also said by all means drop Widdop.
So I am not defending him nor am I saying don't criticise him.
There are lots in this forum who I consider to have thick heads because they falsely believe that changing 1 player can alter our fortune from a bad side to a competitive and good side and over several years they have continually finger pointed to 1 player at a time and this view is IMO myopic.
Small incremental change is not what will save us as a club, or on the field of play.
Small incremental change will only put a bandaid on a severed artery and for some that appears to be enough and that is what I am protesting about.

The was a time when there was a ruckus between Soward and Price. Just imagine if the Board let Price go and kept Soward. Just imagine if they appointed a real coach instead of Mary.

1. I'm not THAT embarrassed.
2. Takes time.
3. Only one account can be associated with one email address.
Excellent. Keep up the Glenn01 account then. While this one still has a propensity to keep restating things until they become fact in your mind, he is not nearly as volatile as your other incarnations.

Hope you can continue to keep it together. It's good for the forum.

The coach has the responsibility and he doesn't take any.
If you were asked to take on a roll in your employment, that was actually above your ability but despite not being able to do it, you still got paid every week and no one in your management team criticised you for not being good at the job, would you walk away from it?
You seem to be obsessed that Widdop should do something himself or the team should do something, the simple question is who does the decision to play and select what position and style Widdop should play ultimately rest with?
The has been a plethora of Widdop's so it is not actually his fault.
It's just like a play and regardless of lead actor or the understudy taking the role, Act 1 Scene 1 will always repeat itself regardless.
Change the actors all you like the same result if you want to alter it change the f**king director first.

There is no real reason Mary got the coaching job other than he is an old boy of the Club. One he failed in the first full year of his coaching stint, he should have been let go. He plainly is just not up to the job.
