Haha.

Yeah, Lockers. Were you of an older vintage I'd swear you were ex-Essendon rover - Anthony "The Angry Ant" Antrobus! :lol:

I assume you mean Michael here, and not Brown. You're 100% correct otherwise.

Anyhow, it all gets underway at 10am and I'll do my utmost to get all the picks up in prompt fashion.

?

Around Richmond parts they seem to think Essendon have had a very good draft? Hislop was very highly rated.

f**k you stupid idiots Essendon!

Fair slack of the reins, Locky-hi-ho.

I'm surprised that the Bombers didn't take a ruckman, but they did get some very likely types, nonetheless.

Getting players like Jetta at 18 and Houli at 42 was an excellent result!

What's the overall Richmond view on your pick-ups, Craig?

I bet the masses would have been very happy to have picked-up Connors as low as pick 58. Most, if not all, draft "guru" types had him going first round and I thought he'd end up at St Kilda (pick 9)!

Some are a bit concerned about the cousin, all seem happy with the last 3 picks. One comment I heard was it's nice to see we've picked up players who can all kick :?

In overall tems, I'm very happy with Hawthorn's drafting.

Again they've gone for players with smarts and skills foremost, and players that will bring depth and balance to the list.

On the face of it, Essendon & Geelong have done exceedingly well, although given the Bombers aren't overly blessed for height, they have gone short here (Gumbleton excluded) and will clearly go in to next season weak in the ruck division.

As ever, I'm bewildered by some of Collingwood's choices, and the Bulldogs have really gone left field this time around. Time will tell for both clubs, as it invariably will for all choices made.

In terms of players that come across, on the face of it, as steals:

James Sellar @ 14 (Adelaide would be pinching themselves);
Leroy Jetta @ 18 (As with sellar, commonly seen as a top ten pick going in);
Brent Renouf @ 24 (Not expected to fall outside of the first round);
Clayton Collard @ 31 (Great first-up get for Freo);
Bachar Houli @ 42 (Can't believe he dropped so low!); and
Daniel Connors @ 58 (Quite possibly the bargain pick of the draft).

The only thing I'd say with Essendon is that I may have drafted a young tall backmen. They hav Ryder to ruck, have now picked up Gumbleton for CHF, if they had picked up a young CHB prospect, they would have the makings of a very good looking spine in 5 years time.

I'm assuming your rapt with the selection of Thorp?

There were some Tigers happy Hawthorn took Brent before us, seems strange given he was another highly rated kid.

I think the depth of the draft has really shown out, some really rated kids fell very late to I'm sure some elated teams.

I know your resident 'Guru' Weaver will be mortified at the club using pick 13 on Reiwoldt, as he had him dropping to Hawthorn @ 33 (and still saw him as ordinary pick there).

He's an interesting one and for mine was worth the gamble. I watched him play against Box Hill and was quite impressed. He clearly lacks the mobility you want to see from contemporary talls, but he read the play well and had fantastic hands.

Haven't looked at the Pies yet but with the Dogs, I think you'll find Rocket beleives they are almost ready for a real tilt. Personally, I think if they can keep Darcy on the field this year we'll really see this too.

I think you'll find most who are bagging the selection of the cousin are completing basing it on Damian's quite damning assesment of his atheticism. Weav has been known to be wrong in the past though, as everyone has.

They wanted the Tiges to take KPP with the first selection and we did. You just can't win with some people.

Speak of the devil ... Email came through whilst I was typing that last post. Courtesy of Tiger Talk ...

I can't expres how disappointed I am in this selection.

Reiwoldt is the slowest guy at draft camp. Has a bolt-upright running style. Shuffles about at near walking speed. Can't jump and is not overly tall for a player in his role.

Without pace he can't get away from a man-marker and can't play defence.

Footy smart, good kick.

Regards,
Damian Streets

Kev, stop trying. I am still royally pissed off with our selections although our no42 pick was good, the others are poor. Gumbleton is one I would not be gambling on. We should have taken Leuxemberg at 2! f**k Essendon have a bunch of twits running our draft selections!

I should be in charge of our drafting! It is pathetic and that is being nice!:x

LOL, Lockers,

If you're the type of recruiting man that can't get excited over a player like Scott Gumbleton, then I should also wish you were the head recruitment man at BomberLand!:p
