Maybe it's the new 'has the full support of the board'.
Geoffrey “Geoff” Toovey is an awesome coach, his stints with the Bradford Bulls & the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles goes to show the bloke is a gun coach. He’d do wonders with the Newcastle Knights squad next year.
I wonder if Ponga/Klemmer have out clauses for the coach.
No one would touch anyone else in the bum team. But if there is one man who can fix this problem it's one Matthew Ronald Elliott.
Make it happen
This has Anthony Griffin all over it.
I think you'll find that Brennan is from Newcastle, so he is the most likely of that group.
He is also a better coach than the Titans made out.
However, get ready for Walters to start denying interest like he did with the Titans.
Knights have a soft schedule to finish the season, could well end up in the 8! If they bump off a broken down Rabbitohs or inconsistent eels team suddenly the season is seen as a success. Imo should have just let brown finish up the season and then decide... or made the decision much earlier and installed a replacement
Obviously he did recruit a team full of rep players, as has been shown earlier in the thread.Obviously he didn’t recruit “an entire team of rep players” as the person you quoted said, but i’d say 4, since like I said, KP was a rep player, he just hadn’t made it yet, but since has under Brown. And SKD has played for NZ. Probably some others too, maybe Gavet and Ese’ese?
Also, players like Watson and Ramien are better than average. One of the Saifitis has now rep’d too.
All in all he should have done better with the players at his disposal.
Geez watching 360 last night his statistics at the Knights was nothing to get excited about why would any club consider his coaching services
Mark Geyer is a f**king idiot.Mark Geyer first choice for the Knights is Phil Gould, his second choice is Anthony Griffin. Phil Gould has said he won't return to coaching because he does not want to give up his media commitments.
Geyer does make the point where the Knights are at he suggests a upcoming assistant isn't what the Knights need at there stage of their development.
Remember he had a great team at St George and managed to stuff it up as well.Well it's all relative isn't it? You've also gotta consider what he took over.
Brown has done a great job rebuilding the place, and he's a decent coach. Just started to feel like he'd gone stale, so this is probably a good move for both parties really. Newcastle probably need that fresh perspective to put the finishing touches on the squad and Brown probably needs to get away from a club he's so used to slogging away for no result at that he's kind of stuck in that mode.
