The point is his value isn't guaranteed to go up. Let's say you sign Brown for 600k right now....and then this week he blows his ACL and is out for 12 months. You wind up paying overs for a year or so while he gets back to his best.

Or, you wait, this week he blows his ACL and so on, and you can sneak in an sign him for 450k....

You might sign him at 600k anyway in 3 months time, but why do it if you don't need to? Anything could happen between now and then. You might get him for 200k less if things don't keep going so well.

We offered him a shitty deal early on before Ricky could get at him, because we believed everyone loves BA and are happy to take under to play for him. His manager rightfully Held out and he got an Alan Bond deal. If we offered him something half decent Ricky probably doesn't have a chance to get at him. We re-signed the likes of Peni and Seffa before him lol...........
