I don't have an official link yet, but I am hearing whispers that nathan green has been released by the club effective immediately. I'm sure a lot of people on this forum will be overly pleased about this decision made by the club.

While I'm glad about this, clearing Green and Williams this early in the season is an odd move by the club...

It's been more common in the last few years as players & teams can start planning for their future earlier.

I like it as it allows the player to make a fresh start & quite a few have been successful - funnily enough when Soward came to the Dragons, that move would be just about the number 1. Otherwise the player just rots away in a second tier comp & the teams can also pick up a player from another club or just clear space for upgrades or future signings.

Green was off contract so it makes some sense in that way but when you have Farrell and Morris injured long term the outside backs look very thin indeed.

Same as Williams letting him go to save money you would think for another signing but again who Witt is gone for the season it seems, Stanley need a say anymore againleaves the halves even thinner.

I would rather have seen them move Harrison on and given his money to O'Brien or Tia kilifi.

On Green if he has gone sign Geoff Daniela for the rest of the year he has experience and is a decent player of Tyrone Cranston this kid has alot of upside and will get better with experience.

This is good news, he might get an opportunity at Cronulla, they are in more bother than us.

Great news, id rather give an U20's Centre a bash, or switch around with Runciman, than waste any more time with Green.

I will be honest though, Green was more tolerable this year, he lost the 'deer in the headlight' + concrete hands, and wasnt 'losing' us games when subbing in, but hes still missing the skillset to have ever be a genuine first grader, and im pleased no more development time is being wasted.. cheers Mary.

good luck to him ...unfortunately wont improve the Sharks position on the ladder..probably lucky to have played as many 1st grade games with us ahead of others to be honest.

Should have been developed into a backrower. Supposedly was bulked up over the off season to do just that, before Price changed his mind at the last minute and used him as a winger/centre again. Another player screwed over by Price.

+1
exactly.
he reminded me of a young Ben Creagh when he was in the backs.. you always knew he would develop into a back rower.. and Green was the same.

The Dragons have a number of talented players coming through the 20's and they need to make sure they are secured for the future. We have 4 20's in the NSW U18's Origin and another from Illawarra SG Ball. We could of had another 20's player if he wasn't injured. So if they have to release a couple of players now who can be picked up elsewhere , why not take that option. Green should be playing 2nd Row not centre.
