Who do you think has a realistic shot of topping the Heat this year?
I think they will be hard to beat, but Shaq is starting to decline so their is a window of opportunity for the rest of the league.

One team in my opinion to look out for is my Houston Rockets. With a starting lineup of:
C- Yao
PF- Battier
SF- Mcgrady
SG- Bonzi Wells (reportedly agreed to 2 year contract today)
PG- Alston
I think they can make some noise if they stay healthy.

What do you guys think?

Spurs will go all the way if trends continue.

C-Elson/Horry/Butler
PF- Tim Duncan
SF- Bruce Bowen
SG- Manu Ginobili
PG- Tony Parker

Plus a mass of depth on the bench. Manu Ginobili and Duncan will be healthy and primed for massive seasons.

still 50-50 on the wolves

c-Blount
pf-KG
sf-Hassell
sg-Foye
pg-James
6th man-Davis
others
a healthy hudson,
Jaric,
Madsen,
Griffin (got hes eyes fixed so he will be 100% and im hopeing he lives up to hes pontentional)
Mccants (should be right too go by playoffs but next season will be when he becomes good)

imo this is a good side def wont go all the way but should do enough too keep KG happy (i hope :()

as for rockets and spurs no chance this years winners will be out of Mavs,Bulls, nets,Heat,Magic or suns

I dont see the Magic doing much this year at all. Wolves do have a strong side and Randy Foye is a strong candidate for ROY. They're a team to watch this year.

I think it is highly unlikely the Heat will repeat. At this stage I see Mavs as the favourites. Spurs will be there if Duncan can stay healthy. Pistons will be good again, and will probably come out of the East IMO, even after losing Wallace. Suns will have a great regular season and then fall in the playoffs.

Those are my fearless predictions.

Apart from the Mavs no teams on that list have any defensive presence that Detroit, San Antonio have. If the game is really changing to that high risk fast paced basketball, those teams will be at the top of the list. Bulls, Nets Magic are no chance IMO. The winner of the Southwest will be the champion come seasons end.

The Nets will without a doubt compete. They have kept the same starting 5 as last year but have gone with youth rather then vets off there bench. With VC and J-Kidd in there prime, RJ about to enter his and Kristic improving with every game they could definatly be a contender this year.
For the 1st time in the J-Kidd era, they have finally look as if they have got a 'true' backup point guard/s with Marcus and Jay Williams.
With Vince Carter's opt out clause that he has after the season i think we are going to see a tremendous season by Vince.
However, the big issue is there front court depth and they have attempted to cover that by bringing in rookies Boone and Illce, and bringing back Cliff as well as another vet Mikki Moore.

Promissing year by the looks of things by the nets.

the same thing was said about the mavs before last season

and remember chicargo now have ben Wallace and since they pushed the heat last year too say they cant go all the way with Ben Wallace is just silly

Magic have got rid of the cancer they may not win this year but if Hill can stay healthy than they will be a threat come playoffs

detriot has lost Wallace and they have flip so i doubt they will win anything soon :p

spurs couldnt win it last year doubt they will again

The trends showed that the Spurs wouldn't make the NBA final casue they won the year before. They still went too 7 games against the Mavs and had many chances to win. To not name the spurs as a contender is just stupid when you consider what they did last year and the playing roster they have this year.

I do agree with the Pistons fall from grace this year but they will still be competative, but the Bulls are too young and inexperienced apart from Wallace to make deep inroads in the finals this year. In an extra season or 2 the Bulls will be the real deal.

C - Mehmet Okur
PF - Carlos Boozer
SF - Andrei Kirilenko
SG - Matt Harpring
PG - Deron Williams

Bench: Derek Fisher, Ronnie Brewer, Gordan Giriceck, Jaron Collins, Dee Brown, Rafael Araujo.

No injures this year and we will make the playoffs for sure. Our roster is young and talented and with a coach like Jerry Sloan definently a playoff chance this year.

spurs bench are ageing and there centre aint the best one injury too there main 3 and imo there screwed

just cause the bulls are young doesnt mean there not dangerous u can write them off all u want but the fact is with out a good centre they took miami too 6 games last year and there all a year older now and they now have Ben Wallace

If Stoudemire comes back 100% from the knee injury the Suns will win it all in 2007

All of last year Duncan was injured, Ginobili was injured, and towards the end Parker yet they still won 63 games. Although none besides Ginobili missed a large amount of court time. Bench is ageing thats why the spurs now have 2 2nd picks for next years draft. Your right about the centres but Nazr and Rasho are hardly good centres so Elson and Butler can't be much worse.

The bulls in a division of the Pistons, Cavs, Pacers, Bucks. I can see them doing similar this season to last. Not winning the division but making the playoffs with a high seed.

I rate them about even. And i believe Wallace wont be as big a loss for the Pistons as people reckon.

I like the Nuggets. Don't think they'll win it all but I think they could suprise some.

C - Camby
PF - Martin
SF - Melo
SG - J.R Smith
PG - Miller

With big men like Nene, Joe Smith and Evans on their bench means they have enough trade bait to try and make a deal before the deadline and pick up a strong guard. Had they of picked up AI for K-Mart and fillers, they woulda be a lock to go to the finals imo.

I really wanna see how the bulls go. Not just because of Wallace but I think they have a strong rotation. I like Ben Gordon and I am interested to see how Thomas goes.. I woulda keep Aldridge.
