In the East it will be Heat & Pistons in the conference Finals again, the Nets still don't have enough presence in the paint, the Pacers lack cohesion (Jackson is the most unstable player in the league and will do something stupid this season), the Bulls lack a genuine scorer (Gordon showed last season he isn't that good) and the rest are all missing significant pieces as well. Pistons losing Ben Wallace isn't that bad of a move, he is 32 himself and his stats have been in the decline the last couple of years. Their bench is still thin and that's why the Heat will come through the East.
Orlando & Raptors to improve markedly and could challenge for a "making up the numbers" spot, as will the Bucks (although having chemistry killer Ruben Patterson will see them miss the 8). Knicks to be atrocious. Bobcats to struggle along again this year before Jordan nabs Carter next Summer. 76ers to realise they should have moved Iverson as they crash and burn.

Spurs
Suns
Nuggets
Mavs
Clippers
Rockets
Jazz
Hornets
In the West, a healthy TD, Manu & hopefully Udrih getting more minutes (thank God they lost Nick the brick) should see them grabbing top spot. Melo to have a monster year (Team USA's best player in the worlds). If Amare recovers, Suns to challenge Spurs in the conference finals. If the Rockets stay healthy, they are a definite challenger (how they play Bonzi will be key, he'll be looking for a lot of minutes to go back on the market next summer), Novak to be deadly in the crunch a la Steve Kerr. Still, I see Spurs coming through the West and defeating the Heat for the rings, TD to make up for last year's season with an MVP-calibre season.
Kobe and Gasol missing the start of the season will be too much for their teams to overcome. Minnesota will not go anywhere because they still don't have anybody to help KG up front (Mark "Sleepwalker" Blount is a downgrade on the Kandyman ffs). Trailblazers to be up and down as Miles' & Randolph's interest levels fluctuate (one should be traded hopefully). Sonics still have no defence although Lewis being in a contract year could see them challenge for a top 8 spot. Warriors & Kings to be there about and one could sneak in ahead of Hornets (who are only there because it's my list and I love Chris Paul - WHY HAWKS, WHY?).
MVP - LeBron (then TD, Wade, Nash & Billups in the voting).
Rookie - Rondo (then Roy, Gay, Morrison & Foye in the voting).
Mate, once I saw Nique soaring, there was never another team for me. Although I wish they'd hire me as GM, I honestly can't understand some (more like all) of their decisions.Good to see you staying with them unlike some NBA 'fans' in this country.
Makes me sick people changing teams every 2 years necause of results or players. Pick a team and stick with them.
Tiger Hawk said:Eddie Griffin always blocks and rebounds well, doesn't make him a good defender though. If you pair him and KG together up front, they'll take a pounding against the West teams who have size (which is just about every team in the West). Neither can take the punishment game in, game out. They tried starting Griffin last year and it didn't work, what makes you think it will this year? If Blount actually plays hard (which is a monumental If), Wolves will contend. If he plays like he's just happy to collect a pay-check (which is the norm), Wolves will struggle.
Gay will be required to score a lot with Gasol set to miss the first 8 weeks or so through his foot injury. And who else will score on that Memphis team? Thomas, whilst I think will become a solid player, has no discernible offensive ability, most of his points come from fast breaks and put-backs. Against seasoned NBA defenses, he simply won't be able to score all that often. And behind Wallace, Nocioni and Brown, he won't get a lot of minutes either. Foye is definitely in the mix but I don't see him putting up great numbers with Mike James around (unless James' season last year was a one-off, which is a possibility given he's 31 odd and was playing for a contract). I've gone with Rondo because there's a good chance he'll be starting for the Celtics and with Pierce & Wally around, and Jefferson ready for a break-out, he'll be dishing out dimes and should be putting up some reasonable points as well.

KG only missed 6 games last season, hardly 90% of 27. :sarcasm: :roll:joel caine number 1 fan said:btw Griffin started 27 games last year and 90% of those we had no KG so maybe thats why it didnt work

I'm sorry but until Griffin proves that he has changed, has his mind set and can provide the inside presence to balance KG's game, the Wolves will fall short again this year. Griffin, Blount & Mark Madsen just don't inspire me with confidence in the middle.
Tiger Hawk said:Pre-season's one thing, Stromile Swift had a huge pre-season last year before having an absolutely terrible year (I know because I was suckered into taking him in my fantasy team).
But anyway good luck with the year, as I said if everything falls into place the Wolves will make the playoffs, but that would require some serious good fortune. On a side note, I also predict KG will be traded this year.
