Flip Saunders is a disgrace to all coaching.
I would rather Frank Curry as head coach of the Pistons with assistants of Murray Hurst, Tony Kemp and Kieren Dempsey.
Trainer can be Paul McGregor.

They would not have a clue what even a pick and roll or a back screen is (prob think it is a fly screen at the back of the
house)...BUT....they would still know more that Flip Saunders.

Seriously...can you respect anyone in authority who is named Flip????????????
The guy has zero presence and all his players run all over him.

By all accounts, Shawn Marion is sky high maintenance, forever complaining about not getting enough recognition, shots, etc. New York Post

The Spurs might not have to do much retooling this summer. Jacque Vaughn, Matt Bonner and Melvin Ely are the only certain free agents, though Michael Finley and Fabricio Oberto could join them if they decide to opt out of their contracts. The contracts of Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry aren't fully guaranteed yet, but that seems to be a mere formality. Horry, who turns 37 in August, has already said he wants to put off his retirement plans to return for one more season, and Holt and coach Gregg Popovich both sounded like they want him back. San Antonio Express-News

For now, Mike Finley appears to be the team's biggest wild card. He said he has yet to decide whether to opt out of the final $3.1 million of his contract to test the free-agent market. While Finley has relished his time with the Spurs — he plans to celebrate the first championship of his career by not sleeping until after Parker's wedding — it might behoove him to seek one final multiyear contract while his stock is valued after a successful playoff run. San Antonio Express-News

Oberto has to make the same decision. He might be able to get a multiyear deal from another team, but the opportunity to continue playing alongside Ginobili and help him defend the championship also is strong incentive to stay. San Antonio Express-News

James White, who showed some potential late in the season, will make his bid to stay with the team during the summer league in Las Vegas. The Spurs also will have three picks (Nos. 28, 33 and 58) in the June 28 draft, as well as the $5 million midlevel exception to use to fill needs. San Antonio Express-News

Holt also is particularly happy to have Tim Duncan, which is why the team is expected to discuss offering him a two-year extension that will approach $50 million. Signing an extension would prevent Duncan from opting out of his contract after next season and keep him with the team through 2011-12. San Antonio Express-News

Duncan's agent, Lon Babby, also represents Bowen, who could seek his own extension this summer. Bowen is coming off a season in which his defense on LeBron James in the Finals was a significant factor in the Spurs' success. San Antonio Express-News

He may have taken the T Wolves to the playoffs many yrs in a row, but only once did he get out of rnd 1 and that was 2004.
He was handed a championship team (ok one yr removed) and he has flushed it, and his reputation down the S bend.
He has zero respect from his players and it showed. Ben Wallace couldnt wait to get the F out of there...and Sheed in the 2007 playoffs, well he treated him like crap. Ok Sheed is a loose cannon, but he was ver ywell behaved under Larry Brown.
He is not a leader, he is an annoying twat that needs to get larger neck size shirts....his constant twitching is annoying in the extreme.

Carter still likely to stay with Nets

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Vince Carter opted out of the final year of a contract with the New Jersey Nets that would have paid the All-Star guard $16.3 million this coming season.

Nets' President Rod Thorn said Saturday the team was informed Friday that Carter would test the free agent market, but he remained optimistic the 30-year-old swingman would return next season.
"Unless he's changed his mind, we're hoping he's back," Thorn told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "He said he wants to return and we've always said we wanted him back."

The two sides have talked about a contract for the past month, and they are close to an agreement on a four-year deal worth more than $60 million.

Any new contract could not be signed until July 11. If the two sides reach an agreement, Thorn said the team is prohibited from announcing the deal until then.

Kurt Schoeppler, Carter's agent, has not returned telephone calls left at his Cleveland office since the negotiations began. He did not return a call on Saturday.

Carter averaged team-highs of 25.2 points in the regular season and 22.3 for the postseason.

If there is a knock on Carter, who will be entering his 10th season, it's his failure to step up in the playoffs. He shot less than 40 percent from the field in the postseason and he made several big mistakes.

Carter turned the ball over in the closing seconds of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinal against Cleveland with the Nets down two points and 2-1 in the series. He also was somewhat of a no-show for the deciding Game 6, scoring 11 points while having more turnovers (5) than baskets (4).

The other potential free agent the Nets would like to lock up is center Mikki Moore, who took over the starting job after Nenad Krstic was lost in December with a knee injury.

Moore averaged career-bests of 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while leading the league in field goal percentage .609.

This weekend will be all about fallout and reaction to the NBA Draft and the big-time trades that also went down Thursday night. So if you didn’t catch it already, we put up our ‘07 Draft grades (surprise: the Hawks did well) and the winners and losers from draft night, which includes Paul Pierce, Yao and a big chunk of Lakers fans …

Did we say that Yi Jianlian will be in a Bucks uni come summer league? We might have spoken too soon. While every other draftee was on their way to making first appearances in their new cities, Yi didn’t go to Milwaukee, and apparently isn’t planning on going anytime soon …

So what happens with Rashard Lewis now following the Ray Allen trade? Re-signing Rashard makes sense for the Sonics even if he and Kevin Durant play the same position. Rebuilding or not, the Sonics need some vets to lead what’s now a very young team, and Lewis is the team’s elder statesman. (Even when Ray was around, Rashard was the longest-tenured Sonic.) “Now that I’m no longer there I’m not even sure Rashard is going to want to come back,” Ray told the Tacoma News-Tribune. “He wants to win and you almost think they are starting to rebuild with all these young players. I’m not sure Rashard is going to want to be a big brother to all these young guys.” …

As far as other teams looking at Rashard, it sounds like Orlando and Miami will make the biggest pushes to get him either in a sign-and-trade or as a free agent, with the Knicks, Rockets and Celtics also said to be in the mix. What are the chances of Rashard and Ray being reunited in Boston? And how much better would the Celtics get by adding Lewis? …

Ray’s take on the trade sending him to Boston? “Honestly, I really look forward to (going home). It is my old stomping grounds,” he told the TNT …

While Ray’s cool with being dealt, J-Rich isn’t feeling it so much. The San Jose Mercury News said Richardson “reacted angrily” to the trade sending him to Charlotte, adding that while the Warriors do need Brandan Wright’s inside game, he was likely picked up to help GS try and get Kevin Garnett. The Mercury News said the Warriors could offer Wright, Monta Ellis, Patrick O’Bryant, Al Harrington and whatever combination of cash and salaries it takes to get Garnett. The L.A. Times said GS might be looking to land Ticket for Monta, Wright, Andris Biedrins and cash/salaries …

And for what it’s worth, here’s Kevin McHale in the St. Paul Pioneer Press: “Kevin’s a member of the team right now. I assume he’ll be a member of the team this fall.” Why would you even say that when everyone knows you’ve been shopping KG around for the last two weeks? …

The Bobcats bought out Brevin Knight’s contract. Almost the minute this piece of news hit the Dime office, the Celtics fans in the house had Brevin suited up in a green uni. That does seem like the perfect fit for him, actually. The only problem? Brevin gets hurt about every 10 minutes …

Blazers first-rounder Rudy Fernandez won’t be playing in the NBA this year due to his overseas contract. Hopefully this won’t be one of those “See ya in 10 years” deals like Portland had with Arvydas Sabonis. And by the way, where is Joel Freeland? …

We just saw Walter McCarty a couple weeks ago at a Reebok launch party at our favorite Boston sneaker spot, Bodega. Now we hear Wal-tah just took a job as an assistant under Rick Pitino at Louisville … Allan Houston is reportedly thinking about a comeback. From what we’re hearing, H20 is willing to take a minimum deal — after all, he’s pulled in about $40 million over the last two years for not playing one second — and his knees feel better. If Houston really is healthy, doesn’t he seem destined for the Spurs? …

Spurs Sign Ime Udoka

Video: Spurs GM R.C. Buford Discusses Ime Udoka
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed guard/forward Ime Udoka. Per team policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Udoka spent last season with the Portland Trail Blazers where he averaged 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists while starting in all 75 games in which he appeared. He led the Blazers – and ranked 19th in the NBA – in three-point shooting during the 2006-07 season, knocking down .406 (89-219) of his attempts. He also scored in double-digits 29 times and grabbed 5 or more rebounds on 21 occasions. In addition to Portland, Udoka has spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

Undrafted out of college Udoka has spent time in NBA Development League, USBL, IBA and internationally in Spain and France. In 2005-06 he was named to the All-NBA D-League First Team and was also the recipient of Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award after averaging 17.1 points and 6.2 rebounds in 45 games for the Fort Worth Flyers. Udoka began his D-League career in 2002-03 with the Charleston Lowgators. He also represented Nigeria at the 2006 FIBA World Championships, where he averaged 14.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

The 6-5, 220-pound Udoka closed out his college career at Portland State where he led the Vikings in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots during the 1999-2000 season. He was also named first team All-Big Sky Conference and selected as the league’s Newcomer of the Year. Udoka began his college career at Eastern Utah and spent a year at University of San Francisco before arriving at Portland State.
