lol how the hell did Yao get a vote let alone enough to get in the starting line up when he is injured and now has to be replaced. I know the West is pretty bare on C's but lol come on now

Same reason he was voted in ahead of Shaq in 03 & 04 - 1 billion Chinese people. Surprised Yi Jianlian didn't get more votes.

East starting lineup looks pretty sweet. West's will obviously look better once a replacement is named for Yao. Gasol would seem the logical choice.

Wouldn't have had any issues if Deron was named the West's starting PG.

The West's reserves is going to be tough to decide. So many good candidates.

While Rose no doubt deserves to be the starting PG for the East, from an entertainment standpoint, having Rondo as the starter would have been more interesting.

I don't think he'd take a single shot all game lol.

The All-star game is on Feb 20th, so that'd be the 21st for us.

Also despite him being hurt and missing time, I would have preferred Dirk starting over Melo.

Would hate to see Gasol not named because of the silly forward / centre thing.

East reserves will hopefully include Horford, easily the second best centre after Howard in the East. Can almost guarantee two Celtics and two Spurs will be named to the reserves by the coaches.

Reserves named:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6088181

East
Kevin Garnett
Paul Pierce
Rajon Rando
Ray Allen
Al Horford
Joe Johnson
Chris Bosh

West
Manu Ginobili
Tim Duncan
Dirk Nowitzki
Pau Gasol
Deron Williams
Russell Westbrook
Blake Griffin

No real surprises out East and suspect K-Love will be given the nod as injury replacement for Yao, or possibly Tony Parker.

Might even go with Steve Nash? Fits in perfectly with an all-star game type game.

Is Josh Smith ever going to make an ASG?

Finally a sensible decision! Great news for Love. Thoroughly deserved, even if his team is balls.

On a slight All Star related note, anyone see the Hawks/Clips game today? Heavy foul from Griff on Horford with time expiring, was called a Flagrent 1 and Horford nailed both frees to get the one point one. But I liked it from Blake. Horford should never have had an open passage to the bucket like that, but Blake came from nowhere and forced him to earn those points. They still lost but that's good basketball. Just in case anyone was worried he was all about dunks and highlights. The kid is a winner too.

Though I was a bit worried when Horford stayed down!

I saw the clip during the Mavs game and it reminded me of the old Knicks/Pacers 90's mentality of "you ain't coming down the lane" It happens with the game is over and nothing can be done later but if Griffin does that with time expiring in the first Q you can guarantee that Horford is not coming down the lane like that again.

Haha, maybe not quite as aggressive as the Knicks/Packers - those dudes were basically making tackles to stop them getting to the run, at least Blake gave the illusion he was trying to go for a block! - but it was good to see in my opinion.
